The Swamp Walker in The First Descendant is a Level 82 boss unlocked after completing the Turning Crisis Into Opportunity quest. It also has a Level 118 Hard mode variant. This Colossus is a more lethal version of the Grave Walker boss encountered in the tutorial and the first tier of the Normal Void Intercept Battles, with similar mechanics but increased resistance and higher damage output.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Swamp Walker in The First Descendant, including how to beat it in this Void Intercept Battle.

The Swamp Walker specializes in inflicting Toxic damage and is highly resistant to Toxic and Chill attacks. So, before you start the battle, bolster your defensive stats in The First Descendant with at least 2,600 Toxic Resistance.

The Swamp Walker is vulnerable to Electric damage, making Bunny builds particularly effective against it. You can also use the Electric Enhancement Module on your weapons to significantly increase your damage output against the boss.

The primary strategy to fight this boss remains largely the same as with the Grave Walker. You can highlight the boss's Weak Points by pressing the Tab key on the keyboard or the Right Stick on the controller. Attack these vulnerable areas to deal significantly higher damage. Once you destroy the Weak Points, you can remove them using your Grappling Hook, temporarily stunning the boss.

Here are all the mechanics you will encounter while fighting the Swamp Walker in The First Descendant:

  • Gatling Guns: The boss will attack you with its two Gatling Guns throughout the battle. You can avoid the attacks by dodging sideways or hiding behind the pillars in the arena. These pillars will disappear after taking damage, so use your Grappling Hook to quickly relocate.
  • Missiles: The boss will often launch homing missiles at you, which you can avoid by running sideways.
  • Additional Enemies (Roly-Poly): These enemies will spawn throughout the fight. Kill them immediately to avoid getting swarmed. They will drop HP and ammo upon death.
  • Area-of-Effect (AoE) Explosions: Occasionally, the boss will launch a barrage of missiles that will explode on the ground, leaving behind Toxic AoEs. Unlike the Grave Walker fight, these missiles won't be marked on the ground. So, to avoid them, move out of the range of the missiles by going away from the boss.
  • Charged Blast: The boss will sometimes target you and charge up two successive blasts, which you can dodge to avoid.
  • Frenzy: The boss will enter the Frenzy phase at certain HP thresholds, glowing green and becoming immune to any damage. During this phase, you must attack its new Weak Points on its knees and destroy all of them to bring the boss out of this phase.
