Jayber might be a support character in The First Descendant, but don’t let that fool you - he can really bring the pain, as well as aid allies. The better you become at placing his tactical turrets, the more useful you’ll be on the battlefield. As a support player myself, Jayber is one of the characters I was most interested in while exploring Nexon’s latest MMORPG.
On our tier list, Jayber made his way to the A-Tier. While not incredibly overpowered, he’s a character in The First Descendant for fans of the summoner archetype. He’s a relatively easy character to use, but masterful use of his turrets will separate the “good” from the “great”.

How to unlock Jayber in The First Descendant
While Jayber is a powerful character in The First Descendant, he’s not especially hard to unlock. While it does take quite a lot of gold, and time, the resources needed aren’t complex to farm up. However, you can also spend real-money currency, Caliber, to skip all the grinding and waiting, and simply play the character.

The First Descendant Jayber skill breakdown
Compared to Descendants like Ajax, Jayber has a very simple moveset in The First Descendant. However, the cooldowns are pretty high, so you have to be careful about where and when you place your Medical and Assault Turrets.
You can also retrieve them with Retrieval, which also allows you to summon Enhanced Turrets for a limited time. You can enhance them normally with a Multi-Purpose Gun, which acts as an attack, or a buff for your guns.
All Jayber Skill Modules in The First Descendant
The Attacking Compulsion and Medical Compulsion Skill Modules are pretty interesting. Using Attacking Compulsion replaces your Healing Turret with another Assault Turret, and the opposite for Medical Compulsion. They’re very useful skills to have around.
Immediate Purge Code is interesting for dealing with sudden AOE damage, and Turret Engineering is handy to keep your turrets around longer than normal.
- Attacking Compulsion (Almandine): Healing Turret skill conversion. When using skill, summons an Assault Turret. The summoned turret operates in the same way as the existing Assault Turrets.
- Immediate Purge Code (Almandine): Reactive Skill Conversion. When using skill, instantly explodes all turrets and inflicts damage on nearby enemies. Creates Lightning AoE that deals continuous damage where the turrets explode.
- Medical Compulsion (Xantic): Assault Turret skill conversion. When using skill, summons a Healing Turret. The summoned turret operates in the same way as the existing Healing Turrets.
- Turret Engineering (Malachite): Multi-purpose Gun skill conversion. When using the skill, it recovers the HP of all summoned turrets and extends their duration. Does not switch turrets to Enhanced mode.
The First Descendant Jayber build: What are the best Modules to use?
As a support character, Jayber wants to have plenty of defenses. Especially if playing solo, you could lose access to your turrets and will have to wait for their cooldowns to re-summon. That’s why we focus on Defense and Skill Cooldown. We also have a few Modules for Non-Attribute damage, since that’s what Jayber focuses on.
Another thing to consider is Attacking Compulsion - if you want to deal with way more DPS or Medical Compulsion - if you want to put out way more heals than normal. If you think these restrict your build too much, you can leave them out.
- Increased HP: Significantly increases Health.
- Non-Attribute Specialist: Boosts Power of Non-Attribute skills by a significant margin.
- DEF Accelerant: Improves SKill Duration and DEF stat.
- Increased DEF: Significantly increases your DEF.
- Non-Attribute Syncytium: Gives Critical Hit Resistance and Non-Attribute Skill Power.
- Shortsword: Changes your Sub Attack into a Shortsword. Improves Max Module Capacity.
- Skill Cost Optimize: Lowers Skill Cooldowns and a slight reduction on Skill Cost.
- Nimble Fingers: Lowers Skill Cooldowns.
- Shield Conversion (DEF): Increases DEF stat, and decreases Shield a bit.
- Non-Attribute Master: Significantly increases Skill Power, and increases Non-Attribute Power.
Ideal Reactors
When looking for Jayber’s Reactors, one of the most important stats is Non-Attribute damage buffs. I’m also very keen to find ones that offer Skill Power and Sub Attack Power.
Skill Critical Hit is also great, but that’s great for any character that deals damage. It’s worth having on any Reactor. When it comes to names of Reactors, look for Materialized Phase (Non-Attribute/Dimension), or Materialized Singularity (Non-Attribute/Singular).
External components to use on Jayber
Jayber’s necessary External Components are likely going to be the same as other Descendants. In his case, we’re seeking Max Shield, Max HP, HP Recovery, and DEF stats respectively. It may be difficult to find these, due to the random nature of External components, but those are the most ideal stats.
