The First Descendant: Platforms, Features, cross-play and more

As the beta tests for The First Descendant wrap up, Nexon Studio is gearing up for the title's full-fledged release. Since the genre is already saturated with similar games, an initial good impression of the title among gamers would be necessary. Thankfully, the beta tests have been somewhat successful with the fans of the genre, gaining some rapport for the looter-shooter MMO.

So far, features like endless endgame content, and being able to play The First Descendant with friends and use highly customized weapons might create intrigue. But the title will need a lot more going on in the future to keep MMO fans interested. Nexon has announced they are looking forward to a July 2, 2024, release date.

Similar to the Borderland series, The First Descendant is a looter-shooter with aspects of massively multiplayer online games. According to the Steam store, this title has some unique mechanics that tackle both solo and co-op levels in a balanced manner.

The game's lore is based around the Descendants, powerful defenders protecting humanity from invading aliens. The setting is a post-apocalyptic world, ravaged by the ongoing war. Although the story seems very run-of-the-mill so far, fans aren’t ready to pass any judgment. Many followers believe that the final release may surprise us.

The First Descendant is scheduled to be released on all major platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Players on PC can get the game through Steam.

Like other games released by Nexon in the past, The First Descendant will be released as a free-to-play game. Due to its free-to-play model, the game will inevitably feature various in-game microtransactions. As of now, we are not aware of the nature of these in-game purchases, but we hope they are mostly cosmetic and don’t affect the gameplay.

Although the beta version had a single-player mode, it was not offline. Players still needed to use a data connection to play the mode. So far there haven’t been any mentions or plans to introduce an offline mode in the game.
