The Tamer in The First Descendant is a Rare Machine Gun with one of the highest Damage Per Second (DPS) in the game. You don't have to research it to acquire this weapon; instead, you can farm it through a Battlefield Mission. This Machine Gun will drop with four random affixes. However, you won't have to farm this weapon repeatedly to get the ideal affixes. You can use the Weapon Readjustment mechanic to reroll them, significantly reducing the grind.

This guide covers everything you need to know about Tamer in The First Descendant, including how to get it.

You can acquire the Tamer in The First Descendant by completing the Abandoned Reconstruction Site Battlefield Mission in The Remnant section of the Agna Desert Field. This Rare Machine Gun has a 50 percent drop rate, so you might have to complete this mission a few times to obtain it.

The enemies in this area are around Level 47 on the Normal World Difficulty setting, so the weapon will drop to a similar level when you complete the mission. With the current weapon level cap at 100, you will need to use the Weapon Level Transmission mechanic to level up this Machine Gun. This will require you to feed higher-level weapons using a Phase Exchanger to your lower-level Tamer to increase its level.

One major downside of using Tamer is that it significantly reduces your movement speed while firing, making it harder to avoid enemy attacks. Although you can use this weapon on any character, it particularly excels on a tanky Descendant like Kyle, who is one of the best characters in The First Descendant.

Additionally, if you are in the mid to late game and struggling with running out of ammo, Gley can also be a very good choice.

As mentioned, the Tamer is a Rare Machine Gun. This weapon type has a much lower base Critical Hit Rate compared to other weapon types in The First Descendant, such as Snipers. While equipping it with Critical Hit Rate and Damage Modules might show a higher DPS number in the game, in practice, a Critical Hit build is much less effective than a Weak Point build.

Here are the best Modules for Tamer in The First Descendant:

  • Rifling Reinforcement (Malachite): Increases your Firearm ATK.
  • Weak Point Sight (Malachite): Increases your Weak Point Damage.
  • Fire Rate Up (Xantic): Increases your Fire Rate.
  • Action and Reaction (Malachite): Increases your Firearm ATK and reduces Recoil.
  • Weak Point Insight (Malachite): Increases your Weak Point Damage and Firearm Critical Hit Rate.
  • Chill/Electric/Fire/Toxic Enhancement (Cerulean/Xantic/Almandine/Rutile): Adds Elemental ATK equal to a percentage of your Firearm ATK. Swap the Module based on the weakness type of a particular boss.
  • Mental Focus (Malachite): Significantly increases your Firearm ATK while decreasing your Base Fire Rate.
