The Forever Winter's Early Access is underway, and with the demo going live, there's scope for the playerbase to grow as the game undergoes improvements. To smooth things over, the developers deployed update 0.1 leading up to Halloween. The highlight of this update is the new explorable worldspace — the Underground Cemetery map.

In this article, we'll go over all the additions and changes introduced in this update.


Everything new in The Forever Winter update 0.1 (October 31, 2024)

The Forever Winter's update 0.1 includes a series of bug fixes and performance adjustments. Most notably, DLSS options have been added to the game for those trying to squeeze out more performance with newer Nvidia cards.

While it's still a work in progress, the fittingly spooky Underground Cemetery map is already a massive series of tunnels, exhibiting some unique properties you can't get on other map entries. Firstly, it's an all-interior tileset, giving Scavs more scope to sneak their way through the trenches. The other unique aspect is the Euraskan Grabber unit being a guaranteed spawn in this location, which brings more challenges but also opportunities.

The even bigger systemic highlight, however, is the updated water system. Rather than the old water death system in place, this will reportedly offer an alternative to getting your inventory fully reset upon running out of water.
