Party size in The Forever Winter is a crucial aspect of the title, as it determines the survivability of the players in the harsh in-game world. The Forever Winter has a dystopian setting where the majority of human civilization has been wiped out due to constant wars and unrest. Massive automatons and war machines from both sides of the warring factions still engage in combat on the barren wasteland that was once our Earth.

In this hopeless world, you play the role of a survivor and squad up with others like you to scavenge what little is left, in order to sustain yourselves. However, the max party size of four in The Forever Winter means that you can team up with no more than three other players or NPCs. The following segment dives deeper into this topic.

The max party size in The Forever Winter is four. During matchmaking, you can invite your friends to join the same party, or team up with random players who are currently online. However, if you don't want to play with other people, you can simply recruit NPCs to your party.

Unlike human players, NPC recruits will not shoot or kill you (the game supports friendly fire) to take your loot. The game has peer-to-peer matchmaking, which means any player can host a lobby for others to join and play together without the need to connect to an official server to play the game. This greatly reduces connectivity issues.

However, no matter if you recruit AI or play with other people, you can't exceed the four-player max party limit in The Forever Winter. In each run, you should focus on survival above all else. In this extraction shooter, almost everything is more powerful than you, so aggressive playstyles will barely work in The Forever Winter.

We recommend teaming up with other players, especially friends, because the runs become much easier with proper communication. If you get downed, your teammates can also revive you or provide support fire in rough situations. On the other hand, playing solo is also viable as it greatly reduces your chances of getting spotted by enemies.
