Carmine Rage Island in Throne and Liberty is a new 2-star dungeon with two mini-bosses and the final boss, Gaitan. While the dungeon is quite short, you need to understand many gimmicks that can be a little complex or frustrating on your first try if you don’t have the proper idea. On Carmine Rage, you will also need to have good coordination with your team. So if you are not playing with friends, hope that you get some good online teammates.
The path to the first mini-boss involves a group of unique Red Goblins that you must eliminate based on visual cues. Also, note that each boss on this island has unique mechanics and gimmicks.

How to defeat Gaitan in Throne and Liberty's Carmine Rage Island dungeon
Gaitan, the final boss of Carmine Rage Island, presents a mechanically intense fight that needs tight coordination. His fight consists of a repeating attack pattern and gimmicks like Pillars Mechanic, as well as several debuffs that can ruin your team's synergy.

Attack pattern
Gaitan’s attack pattern follows a predictable sequence:
- Slash x2 → Small Spin → Cone Slam (towards the tank) → Fury Attack
- Slash → Cone Slam (towards the furthest target) → Slash
- Charge x3 (must be dodge-rolled) → Large Spin (stack under boss)
- Fury Attack → Pillars Mechanic
The Cone Slam and Charge target the furthest player during the pattern. You need to position properly to bait these attacks if you are playing the tank, making sure you are not endangering others. The Large Spin requires all players to stack under the boss to mitigate damage. During the Charges, use dodge rolls as standing blocks will not work.
Pillars Mechanic
At 90% and 40% health, or after two attack patterns, Gaitan teleports to the center of the arena and spawns four pillars along the perimeter. He then selects the four furthest players, tethering each to a pillar and targeting them in order with cone AOEs.
Each cone breaks the player’s respective pillar, stunning them briefly. The two closest teammates remain untethered and are free to move.
Order:
- The furthest player is marked with a yellow eye and targeted first.
- The second-furthest receives a Red Axe debuff and is targeted next.
- The third- and fourth-furthest players are targeted sequentially.
- After the fourth Cone Slam, the mechanic ends, and Gaitan resumes his attack pattern.
Strategy: Assign positions before the fight begins. Place a ranged DPS as the furthest player, the tank as the second-furthest, and the healer as the closest. The player tethered to the first pillar should move toward the fourth pillar after their cone attack to avoid overlapping stuns. Each subsequent player should move into the area of the previously broken pillar to prevent disruptions.

Red Axe Mechanic
The Red Axe debuff is applied to the second-furthest player during the Pillars Mechanic. This deals continuous damage (DoT) and lasts until the mechanic ends. The tank should be assigned to this role as they can best handle the sustained damage. The healer must monitor and heal the affected player to make sure they survive.
Spinning Axe Mechanic
During the Pillars Mechanic, Gaitan also selects a new furthest player after assigning the initial tethers. This person is targeted by a Spinning Axe that chases them and explodes after the second Cone Slam, leaving an AOE damage puddle.
Strategy: Assign the second-closest player to bait the Spinning Axe. They should lead it toward the area near the second or fourth pillar and ensure the explosion does not overlap with active players. Once the first pillar is broken, the baiter should move into that area to avoid additional damage.
Blue Axe Mechanic
During the second Pillars Mechanic, Gaitan applies a Blue Axe DoT debuff to the closest player. This persists until the fourth Cone Slam ends. Assign the healer to this role, as they can sustain themselves while continuing to heal the group.
Cone Slam and Charge baiting
Two attacks during Gaitan’s normal pattern target the furthest player: the second Cone Slam and the first two Charges. The third Charge always targets the tank.
Strategy: Ensure the furthest player has a clear line of sight to the boss to avoid unnecessary damage to others. Use dodge rolls to block Charges as standing blocks are ineffective.
How to defeat the Red Goblins special mob in Carmine Rage Island in Throne and Liberty
Before you meet the first mini-boss, you’ll face six Red Goblins. These are named Mean, Stubborn, Cowardly, Greedy, Grumpy, and Cheeky. During the fight, one of your teammates will be randomly marked with a Red Eye, which will mark the Goblins they will need to kill.
After each Goblin is slain, a new player is marked, and this process continues until all Red Goblins are defeated. If a Goblin is killed without being marked, it explodes, dealing damage to all players.
How to defeat the Red Goblin Shaman miniboss in Carmine Rage Island in Throne and Liberty
The Red Goblin Shaman has a memory-based mechanic that can determine the success of the encounter. At the start of the fight, each player is assigned a Shape/Color above their head, which corresponds to one of six pillars located around the arena. These Shapes/Colors appear briefly on the pillars before disappearing, giving players a short window to memorize their locations.
Once the shapes vanish, players must locate the pillar matching their assigned Shape/Color and interact with it to receive a protective shield. This shield is necessary for surviving the boss’s high-damage AOE attack that triggers shortly afterward. Interacting with the wrong pillar results in a brief stun. If the fight progresses long enough, the mechanic will repeat with new Shapes/Colors.
Strategy: Look at the pillar in the middle at the start of the fight so that you can cover most of the pillar in your FoV. If your assigned pillar spawned outside your FoV, go to the remaining two pillars and wait for one of your team members to choose one among the two, to make clear which one is yours.
How to defeat the Red Goblin Bomber in Throne and Liberty Carmine Rage Island dungeon
The Red Goblin Bomber has a mechanic called Exploding Pots. Periodically, the boss will throw pots onto the platform, each with a visible timer counting down to detonation. These pots must be pushed off using direct attacks, and if you fail, the whole team will take AoE damage.
As the boss takes more damage, it makes things harder by spawning a Large Exploding Pot in the center of the platform. This pot cannot be moved and will destroy the platform when it detonates.
To survive, you must use the floating Pylon to hook over to the next platform before the explosion. Time it right, as lingering too long risks being caught in the blast while moving too early leaves you vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
