Blackhowl Plains is one of the early-game areas in Throne and Liberty's Laslan region, and completing its Exploration Codex involves beating six sidequests. Although this area will be brimming with wild wolves of levels 8-10, most of them will not aggro immediately, meaning you can avoid combat for most of the quests. Blackhowl Plains quests can be a good way to gain some EXP early if you want to be ahead of the curve, but the rewards also set you up for your early-game crafting needs.

In this guide, we'll go over all of these six quests: their prerequisites, rewards, and how to beat them.

All Blackhowl Plains Exploration Codex quests in Throne and Liberty

To start with, make sure you're at least level 6 when you get to Blackhowl Plains in Throne and Liberty. You must activate the waypoint and explore this area partially to progress the Adeventure Codex (Throne and Liberty main campaign chapter 2), so the side-quests can be picked up and completed along the way.

Sheepish Reconnaissance

To begin, talk to the Hunter standing next to the Elk Effigy (Pilgrimage Stone) next to a camp at the edge of Western Hunter Camp, which is near the Blackhowl Plains waypoint. The hunter will task you with completing a pilgrimage, which boils down to morphing into a sheep, trekking your way to two different effigies, and then coming back here.

Interact with the Sheep Morphstone to turn into a sheep, then start walking north. Do not try to dash, as it will turn you into a Dash Morph and stop your progress towards the objective.

Use Sheep Speed (1) to expedite the process instead, which also lets you easily kite the wolves that aggro you. Visit the Northern Campsite to interact with the Pilgrimage Stone (Effigy) while still morphed as a sheep.

Repeat the process to go to the Abandoned Watchtower (west from the Northern Campsite), and interact with the Pilgrimage Stone there. You can also pick up a note here for some free Ornate Coins since you won't come back here later. Morph to a sheep again and go back to the Western Campsite to finish the quest.

Rewards:

  • 3x Recovery Crystal
  • 3x Quality Base Material Selection Chest
  • 2x Quality Passive Skill Book
  • Title - Triumphant

The Abandoned House is directly south of the Western Campside. Cross the pathway and you should be near it. Interact with the window to eavesdrop, then enter the building and talk to the merchant. Head back to the Western Campsite to talk to Chris, the Head of The Wolf Hunter Association, who will send you back to the Abandoned House.

This time, there will be an Arkeum Knight (hostile) who has killed the merchant. After you've dealt with him, loot the merchant to retrieve the Star Fragment. A cutscene will play, after which you must talk to Chris again to beat the quest.

Rewards:

  • 4x Quality Polished Crystal
  • 4x Quality Weapon Growthstone
  • Morph - Shrewd Wolf
  • 10x Quality Armor Growthstone
  • 10x Base Material Selection Chest

For this, travel back to Kastleton and use the waypoint there. Afterward, talk to the Scared Hunter standing under the stone arch at Artisan Street.

This will send you to the Inn, where you must talk to the Innkeeper, the Employee standing on the balcony up the stairs, the reclining Drunkard, and watch a rather spooky procession in a room at the Inn. Afterward, talk to the Innkeeper again to clear the quest.

Rewards:

  • 2x Recovery Crystal
  • 3x Quality Armor Growthstone
  • 3x Tasty Food Selection Chest (15 minutes)
  • 10x Base Material Selection Chest

Rewards:

  • 50x Stellarite
  • 1x Weapon Growthstone

Plain-Running Hunter

Plain-Running Hunter is an amalgamation of side activities exclusive to the Blackhowl Plains. The first one is the exception: Extinguish or light up a torch. One can be found off to the crossroads to the southwest of the Western Hunter camp. Simply interact with it, and the objective will be done.

To rescue the hunter, circle the two campsites and the wolf clusters, and you'll eventually find one. Ideally, you should try this when the Wolf Hunting Contest is not on, which means less amount of players tampering with wolf spawns, which affects the trigger rate of this random event.

As for the Wolf trap, activate it, and then defend against the horde of wolves that spawn in. When you've beaten enough of them, the trap can be interacted with again, which clears the objective.

Rewards:

  • 4x Quality Armor Growthstone
  • 4x Quality Accessory Grwothstone
  • 7x Quality Magic Powder

Return of the Age of Wolves

This objective can only be done when the Wolf Hunting Contest dynamic event is on. To check when it's on next, click on the event schedule icon to the left of your Throne and Liberty minimap. Once it's up, simply collect 30x Wolf Leathers and deposit it at a location. The event goes on for 15 minutes, which is more than enough time to find and kill wolves that are not already aggroed by another player.

Rewards:

  • 2x Quality Passive Skill Growth Book
  • 3x Quality Base Material Selection Chest
  • 8x Quality Armor Growthstone
