Boss attack patterns:
- Teleport Attack: Karnix teleports around the arena, performing three basic attacks after each teleport. At the end of the sequence, he launches a Fury Attack. Watch Karnix’s movements and be prepared to block after the third teleport.
- Slam Attack: Karnix charges up his scythe, then slams it into the ground, creating a shockwave that deals AoE damage and knocks players back. Quickly move out of the impact zone, and use a shield skill if caught nearby. Players should aim to stay at mid-range to avoid the shockwave’s full damage.
- Spinning Scythes: Karnix targets the three nearest players, summoning spinning scythes that chase them around. Marked players should run around the arena to stay clear of the team, while unmarked players should avoid the marked targets and scythes until they dissipate.
- Death Cleave (Black Circle): Karnix marks a player with a black circle, teleports close, and performs a slashing attack. The damage is distributed among players within the circle. A Fury Attack follows immediately. All players should move to the marked player and gather in the black circle to distribute the attack’s damage and avoid the fear effect. Prepare to block the follow-up Fury Attack after this.
Best strategies to use against Karnix in Throne and Liberty
How to counter Fury attacks
- Karnix’s Fury Attack is one of his most dangerous moves, often executed after a sequence of teleportations or specific marking phases. It’s a high-damage, blockable attack.
- How to Counter: Use defensive skills or shields to absorb the impact of Fury Attacks. Tanks should ideally take the brunt of this attack, but all players should be prepared to block when it’s used.

Gather Inside the Black Circle for Damage Sharing
- All party members must move to the marked target and stand within the black circle to share the damage. This prevents fear effects, which incapacitate players outside the circle and make them unable to block the Fury Attack. Once everyone is gathered, brace for impact and be ready to block the Fury Attack immediately.
- Tip: Position your team in the middle of the arena to quickly reach the marked player, and use Staff’s Salvation Chain on any players at the edges to bring them to safety in time.
Utilize a Tank to Control Karnix’s Movement
- During teleportation phases, Karnix can quickly move across the arena, making it difficult for players to position correctly.
- How to Counter: A skilled Tank can taunt Karnix during these phases, reducing the boss’s mobility and allowing DPS players to maximize damage. The Tank should also be positioned strategically to absorb AoE damage and keep Karnix away from walls, giving marked players enough room to dodge scythes.
Follow these strategies closely and you will be able to effectively defeat Karnix in Throne and Liberty.
