Throne and Liberty's Fonos Basin Treasure Codex quest can be found late-game at the Fonos Basin location. This quest can be quite straightforward, but only if you know what you are doing. Since it doesn’t give much information about how to complete its objectives, you may get confused a lot.
To help you complete this quest with ease, here's a detailed Throne and Liberty Fonos Basin Treasure Codex guide.
How to start Throne and Liberty Fonos Basin Treasure Codex
The Fonos Basin area is available relatively early in Throne and Liberty, but the main storyline won’t direct you there until the final chapters. This region is filled with Level 50 enemies, which is why we strongly recommend that you reach at least the current level cap to match them.
The Orc Shamans and the Chief Orc Brawlers, in particular, can overwhelm you if aren’t at a high level. You should equip gear and abilities suitable for crowd control, and if you obtain the Orc Brawler morph by defeating a Chief Orc Brawler, you will get another upper hand.

Once you are confident in your level and equipment, activate the Fonos Basin Waystone if you haven’t done so already. This will allow you to fast travel to the area, making it easier to find the quest objectives as you progress. Upon activation, the quest will appear in the Exploration Codex, allowing you to start the first objective.
How to complete Throne and Liberty Fonos Basin Treasure Codex's objectives
Speak with the Treasure Hunter
Start by speaking with the Treasure Hunter stationed next to the Fonos Basin Waystone. He’s easy to locate—just teleport to the waystone and you’ll see him standing nearby. Engage in dialogue with him, and he’ll provide you with your first objective: explore the Fonos Basin and locate a hidden treasure.
This treasure, however, is guarded by hostile Orcs. You’ll need to defeat several Orc Shamans to obtain the key that unlocks the chest.
Defeat the Orc Shaman and obtain the Treasure Key
Your next task is to battle the Orc Shamans scattered throughout Fonos Basin to acquire a Treasure Key. The quest description suggests a single Orc Shaman holds the key, but in reality, you will need to battle multiple before one finally drops it. The key won’t automatically be added to your inventory upon defeat; instead, it will appear on the ground. So, keep an eye out and pick it up once it drops.
To make battles easier, focus on pulling the Orc Shamans away from larger groups to avoid facing multiple enemies at once. If you’ve acquired the Orc Brawler morph by defeating a Chief Orc Brawler earlier, you can use it here to help manage crowd control, reduce the damage you’ll take, and focus on obtaining the key.
Open the Mysterious Chest
With the key in hand, the next step is to locate the Mysterious Chest, which lies northeast of Fonos Basin. Although the quest description is vague, you’ll generally find the chest near the Fire Cave region. Note that it's shrouded in a dark mist on the map.

As you approach the Fire Cave, continue until you’re near the edge of a cliff with wooden platforms on the left side. Climb these platforms and explore the huts located here—one of them contains the Mysterious Chest. Be cautious, as Orc enemies patrol the area and can become aggressive, attacking in groups if you get too close.
Once you locate the chest, interact with it to unlock it using the Treasure Key. After opening it, Collection Codex: Fonos Basin's Mysterious Copy of a Map will drop to the ground. This map provides the next clue, though interpreting it may take some careful observation.
Find the treasure
The Mysterious Map obtained from the chest is cryptic and only gives a visual hint of the treasure’s location. According to the map, it is hidden near the Boonstone Arena, a circular structure southwest of the Boonstone icon on your map.
The treasure, however, only appears at a specific time: just as the in-game day transitions to night. Arrive early, and wait in position until nightfall to avoid missing the narrow window. The Boonstone Arena has a staircase leading up to the Boonstone itself, and the treasure will spawn at the bottom of these stairs.
