The Throne and Liberty Temple of Slaughter Dungeon is one of the hardest dungeons in the game. To tackle it, you must have a party of all maxed-out characters. While the floors may not be very hard, Chimaerus Rex, the final boss, can wipe your whole party if you don’t have the proper plan about how to defeat it.

In this guide, we have shared everything you will need to know about completing the Throne and Liberty Temple of Slaughter Dungeon.

The Temple of Slaughter is a challenging upgrade from the Roaring Temple. It is recommended that all your party members should be at the maximum level.

Team Composition: Ensure a five-player party consisting of one tank, three DPS players, and one healer. The tank is critical for maintaining aggro and keeping the group safe, so an experienced player should fill this role.

The best gear for each class is:

  1. Tank: Greatsword or Sword and Shield combo for maintaining aggro, dealing with teleporting mobs, and tank Rex’s fireballs.
  2. Ranged DPS: Longbow or Crossbow for medium-to-long range DPS, also positioned to activate pillars and use Purifying Cleanse as needed.
  3. High-DPS Support: Crossbow and Dagger for maximizing single-target DPS, critical for burst damage during key phases.
  4. Alternative Ranged DPS: Staff or Longbow, offering safe ranged DPS and access to support skills like Salvation Chain.
  5. Healer: Wand and Staff or Longbow for effective team healing, with skills to remove debuffs and manage the party’s survivability.

After reaching level 50, you will unlock Temple of Slaughter, a high-level Dimensional Circle dungeon. Here’s a detailed walkthrough:

Hallway Mobs: Upon entering, clear mobs on the right side of the hallway. Defeating all mobs lifts the barrier to the left, allowing progress into a lower area.

Upper and Lower Levels: On the lower level, avoid pulling multiple enemies at once. Begin at the far end to avoid aggroing nearby mobs. Eliminate tougher enemies, including Ancient Dark Enforcers and Wizards, and activate the first Mana Fluid Regulator to unlock the path forward.

Second Mana Fluid Regulator: Skip the upper level and proceed directly to the second regulator. Defeat enemies here to activate it and open up access to the middle zone.

Middle Path: Defeat the Ancient Berserk Dark Enforcer, which has straightforward mechanics but requires sustained damage to eliminate.

Flaming Room: Glide carefully over the area with fire pillars to avoid being knocked down. Watch for visual indicators of fire pillar spawn points on the floor.

Last Barrier: Move through to the final barrier where the Ancient Berserk Shade Wizard awaits. Defeat this mini-boss to unlock the path to the main boss room.

How to Beat Ancient Berserk Shade Wizard in Throne and Liberty Temple of Slaughter

The Ancient Berserk Shade Wizard is the last mini-boss before the final chamber. Here’s how to defeat it:

Tactics and Team Role:

  • Tank’s Role: The tank should focus on gathering aggro from both the mini-boss and the hounds it summons. This minimizes the risk of the hounds overwhelming DPS players.
  • DPS and Healer: DPS players should prioritize the mini-boss to melt its HP bar during the fight, while the healer keeps the tank’s health up as they absorb significant damage.

Attack Patterns: The Shade Wizard uses dark projectiles and AoE spells that can stun players. Be on the lookout for ground indicators that signal an attack. Defensive spells or counter-moves help mitigate the damage from these attacks.

The final boss room becomes accessible after the Shade Wizard's defeat.

The Rex Chimaerus is the final, multi-phase boss. Here’s a breakdown of his mechanics and how to handle each:

Attack Patterns:

  • Poison Circles: The tail serpent targets the farthest three players, creating poison areas that must be avoided to prevent high damage.
  • Fireballs: When a player is marked with a green beacon, they’ll be targeted by three fireballs. The tank should shield this player by intercepting the first two fireballs, minimizing team damage.
  • AoE Attack and Pitons: Watch for the “Launch Piton will be Summoned” text, signaling the need to grapple to the platform and pull the lever. Failure to release all chains triggers a powerful AoE attack that can wipe the team.

Special Mechanic:

  • Air Pitons and pulling the lever: When the AoE sequence begins, use the pitons to grapple to the platform and pull the lever. Two players can be assigned this task in case of difficulty.
  • Chain Interaction: Upon activating the lever, interact with all four chains on the pillars to stop the AoE attack, after which the fight resumes its normal pattern.

Rex Chimaerus Attack Cycle:

  • Normal Attacks: Basic swipes, easily tanked.
  • Leaping Attack: Targeted at distant players with high aggro; the tank should consistently keep the boss’s attention.
  • Acid Puddles and Paralyzing Venom: The venom marks a player who is then targeted by fireballs. Use abilities like Purifying Touch or have other players share the fireball damage if the tank cannot absorb all hits.
  • Ultimate AoE Attack: If the pillar chain phase is not handled in time, the AoE attack will continue. Pulling the levers will end this phase.

Once you defeat this boss, the Throne and Liberty Temple of Slaughter Dungeon will be finished.
