To start the "Return of the Age of Wolves" quest, head to the Blackhowl Plains region. In that area, you'll receive a series of side quests, including this one. However, the quest is tied to the Wolf Hunting Contest event, which means you can't progress in it until the event begins.

To check when the Wolf Hunting Contest starts, open your map and select the Event Schedule tab. Look for the small blue wolf icon, which will tell you when the event will begin. The contest can take several hours to start, but you may also stumble upon it within minutes of entering Blackhowl Plains.

Once the event starts, Hobs will announce that it's beginning, and you'll be able to start hunting wolves to collect Wolf Tails.

To complete the "Return of the Age of Wolves" side quest, make sure you are between Levels 8-11 and complete these objectives:

  • Gather 30 Wolf Tails by hunting wolves.
  • Deliver Wolf Tails to the marked Delivery Sites.
  • Survive through the locking of Campsites and make your final delivery at the last open Delivery Site to complete the quest.

The Wolf Hunting Contest in Throne and Liberty is a dynamic PvE event that takes place in Blackhowl Plains. It is categorized as a low-level event for players between levels 8-11, accessible in Peace mode. The objective is simple: Kill wolves, collect Wolf Tails, and turn them in at designated Campsites for rewards.

Event duration and timing

The Wolf Hunting Contest lasts for 20 minutes. You will have the entire duration to hunt wolves and turn in Wolf Tails at three Campsites in the Northern, Western, and Southern parts of the map. Keep an eye on the event timer and Campsites, as two of the three will lock at specific intervals, limiting where you can turn in Wolf Tails.

Campsite locking

  • First Campsite lock: Happens in the ninth minute. One of the three Campsites will close, preventing players from turning in Wolf Tails there.
  • Second Campsite lock: Occurs in the fourth minute, leaving only one Campsite open for the remainder of the event.

Leaderboard update timings

The leaderboard, showing your ranking in the contest, will be updated at the following intervals:

  • 15th minute
  • 10th minute
  • 5th minute
  • 3rd minute
  • 1st minute

Special event items

  • Hunters Pouches: These spawn randomly during the event. If you rescue a hunter from wolves, you will be rewarded with a pouch containing extra Wolf Tails.
  • Wolf Lures: Use these to attract wolves to your location for easier kills.

PvP

Although the event is primarily PvE, you have to fight for resources. You can face competition from others farming the same wolves, so a weapon combo with high mobility is highly recommended.
