After a long wait and numerous player requests, the Eurofighter Typhoon is finally coming to War Thunder with the upcoming Storm Warning update. This multi-role combat aircraft is going to come to three tech trees, Germany, Great Britain, and Italy, as their most advanced top-tier aircraft. Although the three variants will have slight differences when it comes to weaponry and equipment, they will still be very similar overall.

This article will talk about what we know of the Eurofighter Typhoon so far in this premier vehicle combat MMO.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is going to be the most advanced 4/4.5 generation aircraft coming to War Thunder and is also one of the most advanced fighters in the world. The nomenclature for this aircraft is different for the German, British, and Italian tech trees:

  • EF-2000 Block 10 (Germany)
  • Typhoon FGR.4 (Great Britain)
  • F-2000A (Italy)

It is going to be extremely effective in both air-to-air and air-to-ground roles and you can expect this fighter to be the meta in top-tier Air Battles for some time.

A few features of this aircraft have been listed below:

  • Ability to carry a maximum of 10 air-to-air missiles.
  • Advanced CAPTOR radar.
  • PIRATE IRST for the British and Italian variants.
  • Excellent flight performance and maneuverability.
  • Extremely effective ground attack loadout.

When it comes to Air Battles, the Eurofighter Typhoon can carry 10 air-to-air missiles. However, you can also carry eight missiles, depending on your playstyle. You can either carry six IR missiles and four Fox 3 BVR missiles or six Fox 3 BVR missiles and two IR missiles. More details about customizing your loadout will be made available once the update drops.

All three variants can carry the AIM-120B AMRAAMs, but the IR missiles vary a little. The German Typhoon carries the AIM-9L and AIM-9L/i, while the British and Italian ones carry the AIM-9L and the AIM-9M missiles. All three variants are equipped with the very powerful CAPTOR radar and HMD, and have access to MAWS. Additionally, the British and Italian ones also have the PIRATE IRST which will allow you to lock onto enemies without alarming their RWRs.

The flight performance is no joke either. It is the first plane in War Thunder that can supercruise — reach supersonic speeds without using its afterburners. The plane also has excellent energy recovery and rate of climb. On top of it, the frontal canards will help you execute sharp maneuvers while in a dogfight.

The air-to-ground loadout of the Eurofighter Typhoon is also very portent. All three variants can equip the LITENING III targeting pod. The planes can carry unguided 1000 and 2000-lb bombs, as well as the guided Paveway series of bombs. However, the versions of the Paveway vary slightly, with the British version carrying the Mk.18 and the German and Italian versions carrying the GBU-48.

All three can be loaded with GPS-guided GBU-54s and the Brimstone air-to-ground missiles. Moreover, the 27mm Mauser cannon can knock out tanks from the top, and the British Typhoon also has access to a laser warning system.
