Ascension is a new game mode added to Warframe in the Jade Shadows update. The formula of this mission combines parts of Mobile Defense and Hijack, but makes it much more exciting and skill-based. As the Ascension missions will also be the site of the upcoming Belly of the Beast Clan Operation, many Tenno are eager to find out more.

This guide will outline everything you need to know about the Ascension game mode - its objectives, rewards, and the best Warframes to use. Currently, the only Ascension node in Warframe is Brutus, Uranus.

Note that this Ascension game mode is distinct from 'Halls of Ascension' in Warframe, which are puzzle rooms found in the Lua tileset.

Warframe Ascension game mode mechanics, explained

As the objective pointers explain most of what you have to do, we will just briefly go over the three objectives of this mission:

  • Defend the Mote Collector for 60 Seconds.
  • Approach the Extraction Capsule and ride the elevator to the top.
  • Escort the Extraction Capsule outside.

The objectives make it sound like a simple cross between Hijack and Mobile Defense, but there are key differences and unique mechanics involved.

The Mote Collector itself has a health pool, but it is also a timed segment, meaning you can simply ignore the enemies if you bring a good CC frame like post-rework Inaros.

Elevator Charge Mechanic

On the other hand, the Extraction Capsule itself does not have any health. Instead, what it has is a 'Charge' mechanic. You can pick up green Ionic Charge capsules scattered throughout the vertically moving levels and throw them at the elevator objective to keep it moving.

  • Each successful Ionic Charge Capsule throw adds 20 energy to the Elevator.
  • The Elevator stops moving if it hits 0 energy.
  • If you fall off while parkouring in this phase, there are red 'jumping pads' to help you get back up.

Once the elevator stops moving, the Extraction Capsule will get off and keep moving on its own similar to a Hijack objective. After a short segment, it will reach the rooftop of the galleon, where the mission ends.

Sister Beacons

Sister Beacons are an additional hidden objective in the Ascension game mode. There are three of them hidden throughout the platforms and pipes surround the elevator's path.

If you collect all three Sister Beacons, a lvl 75 Sister of Parvos spawns when the elevator reaches the top floor (lvl 175 in Steel Path). Once killed, she drops Volatile Motes (Operation only) and Vestigial Motes. On Steel Path, she also drops Steel Essence and one of the new Arcanes.

Jade Eximus units

During the elevator phase of the mission, Jade Eximus variants of the enemy faction will start spawning. Besides Overguard and CC immunity, these units also spawn lethal green lasers called Jade Light that you must sidestep.

Jade Light's damage ramps up the longer you stand in it, which can be hard to withstand even on the tankiest Warframes.

The Ascension game mode is how you get the new Warframe, Jade - it has a chance to drop any of Jade's three components.

The Extraction Capsule

The Extraction Capsule is invulnerable initially and throughout the elevator phase. However, once you have reached the top floor, it will become similar to a Hijack objective with its own Health pool. If its shields drop to zero from enemy fire, it will 'reboot' and turn invulnerable, halting mission progress as it slowly regenerates shield.

With an organized squad, it is possible to do the entire mission within five minutes, which will yield a lot of resources you can use for buying the new Arcanes or wares from the new Belly of the Beast Clan Operation (up till July 18th).

What do you get from the Ascension mission?

Each run of Ascension (Brutus, Uranus) can give you one of the following:

3000 EndoUncommon (14.00%)
Meso G7 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso V9 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso W5 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso H5 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso G6 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso W4 RelicRare (8.00%)
Meso B9 RelicRare (8.00%)
Jade Chassis BlueprintRare (5.00%)
Jade Neuroptics BlueprintRare (5.00%)
Jade Systems BlueprintRare (5.00%)
Evensong BlueprintRare (5.00%)
Cantare BlueprintRare (5.00%)
Harmony BlueprintRare (5.00%)

Additionally, it will also give you 7-12 Vestigial Motes, which you can use to buy various weapons, Arcanes, and Jade parts from Ordis in Larunda Relay, Mercury.

The Ascension mode also spawns Juno Sapper Moa units, which can drop all the new Cannonade and Elementalist mods added to Warframe in the Jade Shadows update. There are a lot of Juno Sappers in this mission, so taking a loot-frame like Nekros will usually let you scoop up all of these mods within a few runs.

Best Warframes to use in Ascension missions

The Ascension game mode is the first ever mission type to involve extended vertical level progression and parkour. As such, any Warframes with free flight movement can trivialize the parkour part of the mission. The go-to options are Titania and Wukong - but the newly released Jade Warframe also works wonders.
