A properly tuned Felarx build can trivialize Warframe's Archon hunts or high-level Disruption runs. This boom-stick of destruction was Warframe's most popular shotgun as of the 2023 use charts, and we suspect it's unlikely to drop in ranks in 2025. If you're trying to break into the end-game Warframe content like level cap runs, Felarx is a great tool to counter one of the biggest roadbumps: damage attentuation.
In this Felarx build guide, we explain what mods to use to attain that goal.
What does the Incarnon form of Felarx do in Warframe?
Like all other Incarnon weapons in Warframe, the Felarx can transform into a set of twin pistolerros after landing some headshots. However, the weapon is an exemplar where the Incarnon mode is worse than the regular weapon. The Felarx is a top-tier shotgun out of the gate, and the Incarnon firing mode simply has lower damage potential, incentivizing it to be used as a regular shotgun as-is.

Best Incarnon Talents to pick for a Felarx build in Warframe
Truth be told, the 'best' Incarnon Talents to pick for the Felarx will vary based on your personal preference. For consistent sustained DPS, the following Incarnon Talent path is recommended:
Frictionless Flight > Mounting Momentum > Wracking Wrath > Devastating Attrition
Like with Devouring Attrition from Laetum, the Felarx performs best with the Devastating Attrition gimmick. This makes it so that non-critical hits have a 50% chance to deal +2000% damage, which is huge for a shotgun. To leverage that, we go for Wracking Wrath in Evolution IV.
Frictionless Flight is an useability Talent that makes the Felarx more effective at higher ranges, although you can also go for Attuned Accuracy. Mounting Momentum, on the other hand, is highly important because the Felarx has a huge fire rate problem by default.
Best Felarx build in Warframe for level cap (3-6 Forma, Gun-CO setup)
Devastating Attrition gets full multiplication from Gun-CO, meaning mathematically, the best Felarx build in Warframe (at least against Disruption or such VIP targets) would be a Galvanized Savvy setup. Note that this is a Heat-Inherit setup, so you'll need an Epitaph or another sidearm packed with Heat mods to get the most out of this Felarx.
Mods used:
- Galvanized Savvy
- Primed Charged Shell (regular one can be used)
- Toxic Barrage
- Cleanse Grineer (use a Primed faction damage multiplier of your choice for the double-dip, but requires more Forma)
- Galvanized Hell
- Shotgun Barrage (or Repeater Clip, just remember to aim)
- Ammo Stock (use Primed if available)
- Blaze
Arcane
- Shotgun Vendetta is the best one to use.
- Otherwise, opt for Primary Merciless.
Explanation
The Heat-Inherit primer sets us up for additional Fire damage percentage, so we simply go with Blaze to get the heat and some extra damage for good measure. The setup we are using is with Corrosive, but you can drop it and go for Viral if you have an armor-strip tool on your setup.
The other additional thing I use this setup with is Xata's Whisper, which I have placed on my Revanant as a Helminth ability for Archon Hunts and Disruptions. The playstyle is simple: prime the target with your primer, cast Xata's Whisper, then get a headshot with your first Felarx hit, and the bubble will make sure all of your shots are automatic headshots after that point.
This build is generally ideal for VIP-killing (Demolishers, Acolytes, and so on). The one major drawback it does not fix is the Felarx's abysmal reload. I personally find the Felarx to be a so-so weapon for the purpose of regular mobbing. Many other primaries do this job far better in the current meta of Warframe.
If you use the Felarx for VIP units in Cascade, Magnetic is potentially a good choice in place of Corrosive. Instead of Shotgun Barrage, you can use the new Magnetic Strafe mod.
