Evensong is the newest bow in Warframe that was introduced with the Jade Shadows update this June. As a foil to the Dread bow, its flair is more in debuffing than damaging. A properly stacked Evensong build will still clear out through Grineer hordes even on a high-level Steel Path but don't expect to overtake Incarnon Dread.

In this article, we will go over what makes an optimal Evensong build, including a sample mod setup, synergies, and more.

To get the Evensong, you will have to do the new Ascension game mode on Brutus, Uranus. Clearing this mission has a 5% chance to fetch you the Evensong blueprint as a reward. But if you don't get lucky, there is an alternative system.

The Ascension mission also drops Vestigial Motes, which you can turn in to Ordis at Larunda Relay to buy the Evensong blueprint. It costs 300 Vestigial Motes.

Once you have the blueprint, you need the following resources to Craft Evensong:

  • 15,000 Credits
  • 700 Salvage
  • 1,100 Plastids
  • 20 Gallium
  • 10 Control Module

Evensong's Unique Trait in Warframe, explained

While Dread's schtick is one of the deadliest bows, Evensong comes with a defensive property, directly making use of Warframe's status effect system. Its unique trait is 'Evensong Devotion':

"Damage dealt by Evensong's arrows applies 7 stacks of Puncture Status, which reduces the target's damage output by 100% and increases their Critical Chance of damage taken by 35%."

Normally, Puncture procs can only cut down 80% of the enemy's total damage - Evensong is the sole exception to this rule. Similarly, the Critical Damage component bypasses the regular restriction of 25%.

In effect, the damage reduction is a nifty tool for curbing boss damage in Steel Path, but the 35% additive Critical Damage is what shines through, specifically with the 'Devotion' buff:

"Kills with Evensong activate Evensong Devotion, a buff that increases Multishot by 35% for allies."

This effect increases to 70% if you pair up Evensong with Cantare (secondary slot) and Harmony (melee slot). Devotion itself is not as strong as the buffs from Jade's other weapons, but it is still an easy way to achieve 200% multishot in an Evensong build without Galvanized stacks.

Ultimately, Evensong's natural talent does not lie in high DPS among bows. You can do just fine on base-level Steel Path, but the best use case of the weapon is debuffing VIPs.

That being said, the status chance is still good enough to leverage some Elemental Combos for damage. To that end, you can modify this Evensong build to go for a Corrosive or Gas combo, depending on whether you'll be facing Shields or Armor.

As the Riven Disposition for this new weapon is low at the moment, buying Evensong Rivens would be ill-advised.

Mods used

  • High Voltage
  • Malignant Force
  • Critical Delay
  • Vital Sense
  • Hunter Munitions
  • Primed Shred
  • Galvanized Chamber
  • Infected Clip

You should consider making the following alterations to this Evensong build depending on the situation:

  • Replace High Voltage with Thermite Rounds if facing Corpus or Infested.
  • Replace Hunter Munitions with Hunter Track if you want more boss-debuffing and less DPS.
  • Replace Infected Clip with Vile Acceleration if you have no extraneous fire rate buffs.
