Warframe Ignis Wraith build refresh: A Blast from the Past

Ignis Wraith is easily among the most iconic weapons in Warframe. Free to grab and easy to build, this flamethrower is often a player's first "main" weapon to farm endurance nodes and clear the star chart with. However, with the recent changes to Blast in the Jade Shadows update, Ignis Wraith can be a beast in Steel Path.

In this Ignis Wraith build guide, we will go over what makes Blast particularly strong on this weapon and how you can channel it into an optimal mod setup.

Mods used:

  • High Voltage
  • Critical Delay
  • Malignant Force
  • Primed Cryo Rounds
  • Primed Bane of Corrupted (replace with faction mod of choice for double-dipping damage on Blast procs)
  • Galvanized Chamber
  • Hammer Shot
  • Rifle Elementalist

To understand what makes this Ignis Wraith build tick, we should go over the status effect changes introduced in the Jade Shadows update. Specifically, we need to reconsider the new and better Blast status:

"After 1.5 seconds, an individually incurred Blast Status Effect deals a percentage of base-inflicted damage per stack-explosion and over 100% of base-inflicted damage for a full (10 stack) explosion."

In other words, grouping up enemies and unloading a quick round of 10 Blast stacks will cause a mega-explosion with higher burst DPS than any other status effect.

Being a beam weapon, Ignis Wraith double-dips into multishot with regards to status application per damage tick. In other words, it is one of the best weapons to use this new Blast formula.

To take it a step further, we also use one of the new Elementalist mods added to Warframe. This will grant a new source of damage that stacks multiplicatively with modded base damage, effectively replacing Galvanized Shot for our build purpose.

You can improve this with Lavos, using the Valenece Formation augment mod for even higher Blast Weightage. If you use a group-up tool like Nautilus' Cordon, this Blast-proccing Ignis Wraith build becomes a meta-defining tool for crowd-clearing.

There's only one possible downside: the Riven Disposition of Ignis Wraith remains at the bottom of the barrel and is unlikely to go up at this rate.
