While the cinematic quest and a new Warframe will be the highlight of Jade Shadows, it also has new Augment Mods and Arcanes for you to experiment with. This update is going to add four new Augment mods and five new Arcanes that we know of so far, and some of these have the potential to become meta staples.

In this guide, we will outline all the new Arcanes and Augment mods, so you can start theorizing builds while you wait for the update to go live.

All in all, Warframe Jade Shadows will launch with two new Warframe Arcanes, one Melee Arcane, and two Secondary Aracnes.

These can be obtained from the new Ascension game mode. If you don't want to grind the new elevator-defense shenanigans, you always have the option to buy these from other players - but don't count on getting a full set before Belly of the Beast hits.

Here are all the new Arcanes in this update:

Battery Armor

  • Effects (Rank 5): Gain 0.3 maximum energy for every armor point that you have, up to 1000 energy
  • Slotted on: Warframe

Most Warframes, even in their Prime variant, do not have a big enough base armor pool to make the current 0.3 energy per armor formula worth it. Even with Warframes like Rhino, where you do need to add armor mods, a much more slot-effective solution is to use Archon Shards to get some energy.

However, this has some interesting implications alongside Violet Archon Shards, which can give you +50% Melee Critical Damage with max energy over 500 (+75% if Tauforged).

That makes it arguably the best setup to run with exalted and pseudo-exalted users such as Khora and Baruuk. This will leave more room for flexibility on your Warframe's stat stick, as 375% Critical Damage is already enough for minmaxers.

Arcane Ice Storm

  • Effects (Rank 5): On Enemy Frozen Solid, gain +2% Ability Strength and Ability Duration for 15 seconds. Stacks up to 20x
  • Slotted on: Warframe

While the versatility of the buff is appreciated on numerous frames, the fixed duration of the buff is less than optimal. This Arcane makes direct use of the upcoming status effect changes in Jade Shadows, but if you are not specifically going for a Cold-primer setup, Arcane Ice Storm is probably not worth it.

Secondary Fortifier

  • Effects (Rank 5): 1% Overguard Steal, 8x damage to Overguard
  • Slotted on: Secondary (Requires Arcane Adapter)

Overguard Steal is a fresh concept, and this Arcane stands to become meta for relatively squishy frames that want an extra layer of protection. However, its impact will depend on how much the Overguard cap is - which we do not know yet.

Secondary Surge

  • Effects (Rank 5): On Ability Cast, grants a 1x multiplier to your next secondary shot. This multiplier increases by one each time you use 200 energy, stacking up to 8x.
  • Slotted on: Secondary (Requires Arcane Adapter)

Like one-shot heat-inherit Warframe primer setups, this can be used to juice up a single shot for VIP targets. For example, you can use it on a hard-hitting weapon like Magnus Prime with Deadly Maneuvers, and then one-shot Acolytes in the Steel Path with Secondary Surge stacks.

Melee Afflictions

  • Effects (Rank 5): Add 6 stacks to the status effects on enemies that are knocked off their feet with a melee attack.
  • Slotted on: Melee (Requires Arcane Adapter)

'Knocked off their feet' here likely means the Lifted status. As a result, this Arcane might become meta for blade-and-whip weapons that thrive on Condition Overload, such as the event-exclusive Ceti Lacera.

All new Warframe Augment Mods in Jade Shadows

Warframe's Jade Shadows update will also debut four new Augment mods for the following Warframes:

  • Protea
  • Qorvex
  • Sevagoth
  • Dagath

These are details on the augment mods, as revealed on Devstream #180:

Augment Mod NameWarframe and AbilityDescription
Temporal ArtilleryProtea: Blaze Artillery, but also requires Temporal AnchorWhen Temporal Anchor is active, one Blaze Artillery will latch on to Protea and move with her. Its combo count is capped at 20x.
Dark PropagationSevagoth: SowEnemies killed under the effect of Sow will spread the effect in 15m. Shadow's Death Harvest now also inflicts Sow.
Spectral SpiritDagath: Grave SpiritKills outside of Grave Spirit's Spectral form decrease cooldown by 1 second. Grave Spirit now automatically puts you in Spectral form, and weapons have 100% chance to apply Doom during it.
Wrecking WallQorvex: Containment Wall, but also Chrinka PillarsApplies 50% armor and shield strip on enemies affected. Casting on 5 or more enemies at the same time resets Chyrinka Pillars' duration and empower them.

Note: All the data in the article on Jade Shadows has been sourced from information in a developer build. While it is unlikely the Arcanes and mods will receive reworks on release, their stats may undergo some tuning.
