During the closing cinematic of the "Jade Shadows" quest in Warframe, the player is faced with a binary choice: Orion vs Sirius. It is not explicitly explained whether they have any consequences, leaving it a head-scratcher for players who rushed through the quest. If you too are unsure what to pick, this article aims to provide some more clarity.

Before you read along, note that we will deal with some spoiler-heavy topics to explain the Orion vs Sirius choice. The Jade Shadows quest has some surprising lore drops for the Stalker's past and the Warframe itself - so if you haven't played through the quest yet, we advise you to exercise caution.

What do "Sirius" and "Orion" signify in Warframe's Jade Shadows quest?

The Jade Shadows quest, as its starting notifier warns, involves "trauma related to motherhood." The final act of this quest is the birth of Jade's child - Stalker's own son. After you take him to a safe harbor, you get to pick a name for the newborn: Sirius or Orion.

As the names metaphorically imply, this choice simply aligns the baby to be similar to the mother (Jade), or the father (Stalker/Sorren).

  • Sirius (Left), as indicated by a Green outline, is closer to Jade. Sirius A is considered the brightest star visible in the night sky from Earth, which aligns perfectly with Jade's Angelic "Paladin of Light" identity.
  • Orion (Right), as indicated by the Red glow around it, is closer to classic Stalker. The Orion constellation famously represents a mythological "Hunter," which aligns perfectly with Stalker's assassin aspect.

Does the Sirius vs Orion choice in Warframe have any consequences?

As of this writing, there are no tangible consequences to choosing either name for the baby at the end of the Jade Shadows quest.

Since War Within, Warframe's second cinematic quest, the game has featured a moral alignment system signified by the Sun and the Moon. While similar to that alignment system, this choice does not affect your player profile's Sun/Moon dial. This makes sense, as it is not a choice made by your Operator, but rather Sorren/Stalker himself.

Ultimately, the Sirius vs Orion choice is a prompt meant to let you immerse yourself into the story further - the choice left up to your personal preference.

I personally picked Sirius. It makes the most narrative sense in this transformative character arc for the Stalker, and whatever is left of Sorren would want the newborn to be a memory of Jade.
