With the sudden decline in player count over the last few weeks, there's a bunch Bungie has to do with Destiny 2 in 2025. Episode Revenant is still active with the new year, as players can expect the final act to commence in the second week, followed by a new Episode in February. Two expansions are also scheduled to be released sometime in the Summer and Fall of this year.
This article lists everything you can expect from Destiny 2 in 2025, by compiling a few things already confirmed by Bungie.
Destiny 2 Year 8 roadmap, including Episode Heresy, Apollo expansion, and more
Here is a summary of what to expect from 2025 in Destiny 2:
- Episode Revenant finale
- New Exotic mission
- Episode Heresy
- New Dungeon
- Annual events
- Codename Apollo expansion
- Codename Behemoth expansion
1) Episode Revenant finale
The final act of Episode Revenant will be released on January 7, 2025, alongside an Exotic mission called "Kell's Fall." You can expect new Legendary weapons and activities added with the final act, alongside an Exotic Shotgun within the mission.
This mission will work the same as any other Exotic missions released last year, allowing everyone to run it multiple times for different Catalysts and upgradable intrinsic perks. It has been confirmed that the Exotic Shotgun will be called "Slayer's Fang."
For additional details, refer to our article on datamine reports that share information on the Slayer's Fang Shotgun.
2) Episode Heresy
Episode Heresy will be the final entry of The Final Shape, wrapping up the 10-year-long Light vs Darkness saga. Aside from returning to the Dreadnought, the season will also throw in a new Dungeon with a new choice Pinnacle activity, multiple new Legendary gear pieces, and a new Exotic weapon.
Episode Heresy is scheduled to revolve around the Hive and is expected to go live on February 4, 2025. The Dungeon will go live three days later, on February 7, 2025.
3) Guardian Games
The Guardian Games annual event usually takes place around March. You can expect the same in 2025 as well, as it might return during the launch of Heresy Act II. However, any official details of a finalized release date — or gear pieces — remain unknown.
4) Apollo and Behemoth expansion
Bungie confirmed that they were working on an expansion, codenamed Apollo. The final title of this remains unknown. However, based on the runtime of Episode Heresy, it is safe to assume that it will be released sometime in June 2025. Based on an official infographic shared by the company, Apollo is scheduled to have new locations, missions, Raids, Dungeons, and gear pieces.
Codename Behemoth will follow Apollo and has a potential release date in Fall 2025. Very little is known about this expansion regarding weapons, missions, and core content.
Note that both these expansions will be followed by mini-seasons to bridge the gap, bringing in reprised activities, new gear pieces, events, and more.
