When the max level in New World is reached, it is considered the end of the game, as after that, there is very little incentive left for players to continue. The character level determines their power and ability to use different types of gear, skills and more. As players continue to fight monsters and complete objectives, they will receive experience to increase their level.
With the upcoming New World: Aeternum, many fans believe that Amazon’s MMORPG may make a comeback. Aeternum is a massive overhaul to the title that will enhance performance, add new content, and much more. These changes will bring many modifications to a player's journey to reach the max level in New World.
In this article, we have shared everything we know about the max level in New World and New World: Aeternum.
The Max Level in New World Explained
The max level cap for any character in the New World base game is level 60, with skills up to level 200 and a max gear score of 650. However, if the player owns the Angry Earth DLC that was released back in 2023, the max level cap will be increased to level 65, with skill levels up to 250 and the max gear score increased to 700.

As reports suggest, the official release of New World: Aeternum will include the Angry Earth DLC, which means the game, by default, will have the increased max level cap with increased skill and gear scores. The content from Angry Earth, like the new faction questlines and faction tiers, will also be included in the new update.
However, in the New World: Aeternum open beta, the max level was capped at level 30. Nevertheless, it still had a lot of content for players to experience, such as the 3v3 arena where they could challenge other players. They were also able to join factions and participate in excavations like the Amrine Excavation.
