Once Human's biggest player concern has been addressed

The developer of Once Human, Starry Studio, faced significant backlash after announcing its plans for the Seasonal Scenario system. It described the mechanism as a soft reset, meaning that once the current scenario ends, all map progress, character levels, and certain items obtained during the season would be wiped out.

Although the developer reassured players that key items like currencies, story progress, blueprints, and Deviants would transfer cross-season, the explanation left much to be desired. The lack of detailed information on how the system would work raised more questions, creating a sense of unease among players. Many expressed concerns that the six-week season might be too short to fully experience everything the game has to offer, among other worries.

However, the developer's recent post on its official Discord server provided a detailed explanation of the entire Seasonal Scenario system, alleviating concerns about the game potentially losing a significant portion of its player base due to initial perception of how the seasons would work.

Once Human developer breaks silence on how seasonal resets will work

The primary concern among players regarding the Season Scenario resets was the short duration of the first season, which will last only six weeks. While this might be enough time for some players to explore everything the game has to offer, many — especially those with limited playtime or who joined midway through the season — won't be able to experience everything.

These concerns were addressed when the developer provided a detailed explanation of how the Season Scenario system would function. The key highlight from the post on the official Once Human Discord server is that in the final phase of the current scenario, players can choose to sign up for the new season and start it immediately:

"A season will be split into several phases based on features of the scenario. The in-game content will be unlocked gradually as your server progresses, ensuring that you always has something new to enjoy. Once you unlock all the scenario content and the season has come to its settlement phase, you can sign up for a new scenario, take all your gains, and start a new adventure."

However, those who aren't ready to move on — whether because they still have tasks to complete or simply want to continue playing the current scenario — can opt out and continue playing for an additional four weeks. During this time, they can choose to join the new season at any point.

"Alternatively, you can stay on the same server until the settlement phase is over. This phase lasts for four weeks in our current scenarios."

This flexibility offers players much more time than initially expected to experience everything the first Seasonal Scenario has to offer, alleviating most concerns about this system.
