Will Diablo 4 Season 5 live up to Season 4's tremendous success?

Diablo 4 Season 5 is coming soon, kicking off after the wildly successful Season 4: Season of Loot ends. Although the next season is going to be shorter, it’s bringing a wealth of fascinating changes, especially in the end-game, that I think are going to, in the long run, be quite popular. Of course, there will be many balance changes, and there will no doubt be players upset about a class being nerfed, but it’s not nerfs all around. Some classes were simply entirely too strong.

No matter how much I love Minion Necromancer in Season 4, I understand it was wildly overpowered. That was the whole point of the season: strong gear, strong builds (for most classes), and just a way to relax and have fun in Blizzard’s Action MMO. While some are worried about Season 5, I think Diablo 4’s developers are on track to keep the hype train going.

Diablo 4 Season 5 can live up to the expectations set by Season 4: Season of Loot

Diablo 4 Season 5 is on the way soon, and with it comes a ton of updates, changes, and new features. I can understand people being a little nervous, considering how much fun Season 4 was. It was the most fun I’ve had playing D4 since launch, to be honest. Season 5 is so much more than just some new content as it adds a new bit to the main story, to help prepare for the upcoming expansion: Vessel of Hatred.

On top of that, there’s an exciting new endgame mechanic, in Infernal Hordes. Combining the slaughter of the forces of Hell, with Infernal Offers that can help and hinder you sounds like a lot of fun to me. There’s plenty of great loot to pick up and challenging foes to fight, such as the Fell Council.

I can see why people might be nervous though; the Infernal Compass mechanic does sound more than a little annoying. Having to grind and upgrade your Infernal Compass with Abyssal Scrolls doesn’t sound very engaging, but we’ll just have to see how easy that is to do. If it’s a system that’s relatively easy to interact with, it will be fine.

For me, it’s the little things that make me excited to play in Season 5. Profane Mindcage being a permanent facet of the game (and stacking up to three times) is incredible. And then you can also tackle endgame bosses over and over without resetting the dungeon.

Another great change is making Beast in Ice no longer require a sigil to craft; you can just summon it and fight it. Exp isn't capped when grouping either, so it's incredibly fast to level up low-level friends, so they can do content with you.

Improvements were also made to Helltides, and there are plenty of balance changes, though I do understand that not everyone will be thrilled. Sorcerer players sure will as many Sorcerer builds are going to be powerful in a way they haven’t been in months.

While my opinion might change after getting hands-on with the final build, I’m very excited about Diablo 4’s Season 5 experience. From updating affixes to giving classes access to new weapons, there’s so much to look forward to. I think Season 5 is only going to keep this excitement going all the way to the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
