Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance is officially dying. Invoke Studios (previously known as Tuque Games), the developer of the RPG, has announced that the game's co-op servers will be shut down and the title will be delisted from digital stores on February 24, 2025.
From that day forward, Dark Alliance and its DLC could only be played in offline single-player mode by those who have already purchased the game.
The title's description on Steam now reads:
"We will be shutting down (shut down) the Dark Alliance servers on 2/24/2025, and it will no longer be available to purchase starting that day. The base game and all DLC are still available to play in offline single player by anyone who currently owns it."
Only three years after Dark Alliance's release, Invoke Studios has decided to pull the plug on the RPG. When first announced, the title generated a lot of excitement among fans who were eager for an action MMORPG inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons tabletop game.
Unfortunately, the final product did not live up to community expectations. If you have ever played any DnD games, especially Larian's Baldur’s Gate 3, then this game might leave you disappointed.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance is shutting off for good in 2025
Since its release, Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance has been plagued by bugs and lackluster combat. Players have also been complaining about it being a disappointing portrayal of the Icewind Dale location from the Dungeons and Dragons universe. On Steam, the game has managed only a "mixed" rating, with 50% positive reviews.
In spite of its shortcomings, Dark Alliance did receive some praise for its Echoes of the Blood War DLC released in 2022, which addressed many of the main game's issues. However, updates for the title have been sporadic and felt somewhat uninspired.

Invoke Studios has already moved on and is currently working on a new Dungeons and Dragons title. Although details are scarce, Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that this new game will be part of a broader strategy to develop more D&D video games, including several upcoming projects:
- A survival RPG life simulator from the developer of Disney Dreamlight Valley.
- A VR title from the team behind Demeo.
- A co-op game by Payday 3’s Starbreeze Studios.
- An unannounced game from Hasbro.
As Wizards of the Coast continues to capitalize on the renewed popularity of D&D, largely thanks to Baldur’s Gate 3, fans can look forward to a variety of upcoming games that aim to capture the magic that Dark Alliance never quite achieved.
