Later in 2024, the WoW 20th Anniversary event will kick off, and Blizzard is giving players a ton of great rewards and events. This is a huge moment for the game, and the developers are celebrating in style. Players can go back in time in various ways: trying a reimagined version of a classic raid, Timewalking, unlocking a new mount, and even picking up in-game versions of Blizzard Employee Service Award items.

The WoW 20th Anniversary event was teased on X, and while we predicted that it would feature updated versions of the Tier 2 armor sets, we had no idea the surprise was going to be this big. Revealed on the latest episode of WoWCast, fans got a peak at what’s in store this year.

While a firm date hasn’t been given for the WoW 20th Anniversary event, we do know that it will run through November and December. Players will be able to tackle events for a new currency—Bronze Celebration Tokens—and use these on plenty of new items. In addition, some classic anniversary items will come back for you to pick up.

While we don’t know everything you can purchase with Bronze Celebration tokens, one thing has been revealed. The WoW 20th Anniversary event will grant every class a new cosmetic set of armor.

All classes that had a Tier 2 Raid set are going to get theirs remodeled and updated. Classes that did not exist yet—Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Monk, and Evoker—will also get new armor sets! These ensembles will have nine pieces, so you can completely deck yourself out. Here are the classes and their armor set names:

  • Death Knight: Pale Rider's Eternal Armor
  • Demon Hunter: Netherwalker's Eternal Armor
  • Druid: Stormrage Raiment
  • Evoker: Earth-Warder's Eternal Armor
  • Hunter: Dragonstalker Armor
  • Mage: Netherwind Regalia
  • Monk: Eternal Battlegear of the August Acolyte
  • Paladin: Judgement Armor
  • Priest: Vestments of Transcendence
  • Rogue: Bloodfang Armor
  • Shaman: Then Ten Storms
  • Warlock: Nemesis Raiment
  • Warrior: Battlegear of Wrath

Some rewards are coming back that Blizzard confirmed, though. If you missed out on some of the previous pets and mounts, you’ll be able to buy them from Storekeeper Reginald for Bronze Celebration tokens:

  • Core Hound Chain: Teaches the Core Hound mount.
  • Lil’Nefarian: Teaches the Lil’ Nefarian pet.
  • Molten Corgi: Teaches the Molten Corgi pet.
  • Onyxian Whelpling: Teaches the Onyxian Whelpling pet.
  • Hatespark the Tiny: Teaches the Hatespark the Tiny pet.
  • Baby Blizzard Bear: Teaches the Baby Blizzard Bear pet.

World of Warcraft players can tackle Raids and Timewalking dungeons for new rewards

Perhaps one of the coolest parts of the event is the Blackrock Depths raid! Moira Bronzebeard will guide players through eight amazing boss battles, as we go back in time. It will even be in the Raid Finder, on Normal/Heroic difficulty options. It’s quite an exciting prospect to go back to a time in WoW’s history when some dungeons were for more than just five people.

We do know that Timewalking will come back as well for the WoW 20th Anniversary event. Some of the most popular Classic-era dungeons will be available:

  • Deadmines
  • Zul’Farrak
  • Dire Maul East/West wings
  • Stratholme Living/Undead wings

In addition, there will be some new items/reworked items on the Timewalking vendor. This includes re-imaginings of popular, extinct mounts like the Amani War Bear. Players will be able to purchase the Amani Hunting Bear, Enchanted Spellweave Carpet, and Frayfeather Hippogryph mounts.

There is a new mount coming as well: Coldflame Tempest mount. This is a blue phoenix, based on the Ashes of Al'ar mount, but with a fun twist. It’s wearing a helmet and chestplate designed after the Blizzard Employee service awards. Blizzard employees, after years of service, are given a Sword, Shield, and Helmet—players will get a Sword, Shield, and Crown as a part of this event. There’s even going to be a Scenario based on the Classic-era Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, called Codex of Chromie for 10-20 players.

World Bosses and PVP events offer classic mounts and amazing pets

There will be a variety of events at the Caverns of Time, alongside some World Boss encounters: Doomwalker, Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, and the Dragons of Nightmare for starters. There are some other surprises too, like the Sha of Anger, and Archavon the Stonewatcher that will appear during the WoW 20th Anniversary event. Speaking of bosses, there will also be two pet versions of classic world bosses: Lil'Kaz and Lil'Doomy.

If that weren’t enough, there’s an Alterac Valley PVP event returning—Korrak’s Revenge. Completing the quest for it will grant the player a mount for their faction (Stormpike Battle Ram or Frostwolf Snarler). This WoW 20th Anniversary event is a serious trip back through time.

While we don’t know exactly when this will all kick off, or the entire list of rewards, we know a great deal. The WoW 20th Anniversary event will run through November and December, and give players access to a mountain of amazing cosmetic rewards.
