WoW Classic SoD Phase 5’s release date is coming soon, according to a blog post by Blizzard earlier this week. In addition to talking about the next content for WoW Cataclysm Classic, the developers teased some of what players can expect going forward for the Season of Discovery. While not much was made clear, we’ll no doubt learn about it in the next few weeks.

Like each new phase of content, there will be new Runes, equipment, and challenges to tackle. However, players don’t have much longer to wait for the WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 release date - it’s coming later this month (September 2024). Here’s what you have to look forward to.

The WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 will release on September 26, 2024. It will launch after the weekly maintenance, but we do not have a specific time at this point. Once that’s made available, we will let you know when to be ready. While there’s still much that is unknown about the next phase of content, Blizzard did make a few reveals, so we know what awaits at the end of our journey.

Two raid dungeons will be available in WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 sometime after the release date, as well as the Tier 2 raid gear. The Tier 2 gear will be found in Blackwing Lair, which also originally housed the Elementium Ore needed for Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. It is unknown at this time if that will still be in the dungeon.

Blackwing Lair is tuned for a 20-player group, but up to 40 can go in at once. The easier option will likely be Zul’Gurub, a raid dungeon tuned for 10 players, but up to 20 can join a raid group to hunt for treasures and powerful equipment.

It is likely the encounters found in both of these Classic-era raid dungeons will be updated as well, so it will be interesting to see what changes. One thing from Zul’Gurub that mages will likely be able to look forward to is a new Polymorph since the original ZG featured Polymorph: Turtle for those who fished up the optional boss.
