WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 is going to bring back a hidden boss and make him a raid encounter for everyone. This is a really interesting idea because there are no doubt tons of players who have never fought Prince Thunderaan before. He’s not the only new feature coming in Phase 5, but this is one of the most exciting changes.
Normally, you only fight Prince Thunderaan if you’re working on unlocking Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. However, in WoW Classic SoD Phase 5, this boss will be available for everyone to fight, even if you aren’t working on the Legendary weapon. Here’s what we know so far.
WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 turns Prince Thunderaan into a new raid encounter
Prince Thunderaan is back in WoW Classic SoD Phase 5 as a new raid encounter. The original Prince Thunderaan was only available if you were working through the quest chain to unlock Thunderfury. A 40-man raid, it would drop as many of the Dormant Wind Kissed Blades as people were working on the quest. The Reddit post above shows a portal found on the PTR that may lead to this raid boss.
Prince Thunderaan will be back in WoW Classic SoD Phase 5, retuned and reimagined, designed as a 20-person encounter. However, up to 40 people can still return and fight this raid boss if they wish. Even better still, he will have equipment for all classes and specializations—not just the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade.
However, if you’re worried he’s no longer going to be a part of the Thunderfury quest, worry not. You can still earn Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseker in WoW Classic SoD Phase 5, and it’s even been improved from the original, according to Blizzard Entertainment.
Some items have been datamined from this boss by WoWhead, such as Stormwrath and Sanctified Shortblade of the Galefinder—which feels like a play on the Thunderfury name. There is also the Drape of the Windlord, which is the cape the boss wears in the fight. Unfortunately, we do not know for certain if these will still drop when the update hits.
This isn’t the only new thing confirmed for WoW Classic’s next phase. Demon Fall Canyon, which was unveiled in Phase 4, will have a brand-new boss for players seeking a greater challenge.
This will still be found in Ashenvale, but there’s something mysterious awaiting within. With the Phase 5 release date coming soon, there’s still so much we don’t know. As we uncover more of these secrets, we’ll keep you in the loop.
