The WoW Midsummer Fire Festival is a popular event, and it’s been updated for 2024. Starting today, June 21, 2024, the event will be available for a limited time, and it’s a great way to level up lower-level characters as well as pick up some great cosmetics. This year, there’s a brand new cosmetic reward that has a chance to drop: Cliffside Wylderdrake Armor based around the holiday itself.
There are plenty of quests to tackle, fires to visit, and items to unlock throughout the limited-time Midsummer Fire Festival. Like all holidays in World of Warcraft, it will only be around for a very limited time, so it’s important to catch it then.
How long will the WoW Midsummer Fire Festival be available?
The WoW Midsummer Fire Festival begins on June 21, 2024, at 10 am PT, and will last until July 5, 2024, at 10 am PT. This holiday is still focused on visiting bonfires across Azeroth, with the ultimate prize being the title of Flame Keeper (Horde)/Flame Warden (Alliance) which you will be rewarded for completing a series of meta achievements built around the holiday.
Completing quests for this holiday event will grant Burning Blossoms - a currency that you use during the event. You can take these and throw them into bonfires to gain the Fire Festival of Fury buff, which grants everyone nearby melee/spell critical chance +3% for one hour. It’s worth it to visit the bonfires for that alone.
What to do during the WoW Midsummer Fire Festival
The gameplay loop of the WoW Midsummer Fire Festival is pretty simple, but it can also take time due to the number of bonfires scattered throughout the land. If you already have the achievement, that’s less of an issue - the same goes if you don’t care about unlocking the meta achievement.
Though you do not have to it, there is a quest from certain NPCs in your faction’s capital cities that starts the event. These aren’t necessary, but they alert you to the Midsummer Fire Festival being active in WoW:
- The Spinner of Summer Tales (Horde cities)
- The Master of Summer Lore (Alliance cities)
Players travel to bonfires for both factions, lighting or extinguishing them for Burning Blossoms, experience, gold, and even achievements. Once there, you also dance around the Ribbon Pole to gain an experience buff - grab the ribbon and dance around the pole for a 10% exp buff. You'll find these in most major towns for both factions across the game.
You can also participate in several minigames and quests in the capital cities for rewards. Additionally, players will have access to vendors that sell heirloom items, pets, holiday transmog items, and much more.
The big event for the Midsummer Festival, though, is fighting Frost Lord Ahune - this is done via the Dungeon Queue - Frost Lord Ahune. The developers have changed how you receive rewards for this, though. Your first kill of the day grants the Satchel of Chilled Goods, as normal.
For the Midsummer Fire Festival Armor for your Cliffside Wylderdrake Dragonriding mount, you only get one attempt per account per day. However, your chance of winning it goes up each day you attempt it, making it ultimately, much easier to get. His satchel can drop other interesting items, like:
- The Frost Lord’s War Cloak
- The Frost Lord’s Battle Shroud
- Shroud of Winter’s Chill
- Icebound Cloak
- Cloak of the Frigid Winds
- Formula: Enchant Weapon - Deathfrost
- Illusion: Deathfrost
- Frostscythe of Lord Ahune
- Ice Chip (Frigid Frostling Pet)
You also have Midsummer Fire Festival Seasonal activities that you can do for the Trading Post. If you still need points for the end of this month, these will help you get there easily:
- /bow at a Scorchling next to a bonfire: 50 points
- Use /dance emote at a Brazier of Dancing Flames toy: 100 points
- Desecrate an opposing faction’s bonfire in Pandaria: 100 points
