WoW The War Within: How to get to the Darkmoon Faire

The monthly Darkmoon Faire event is one of WoW The War Within’s most popular in-game features. No matter how frequently you attend, there’s something fun for players to do there. You can go simply for profession-related quests, farming cosmetics, pets, and so much more. That, or you can simply go play the games and have fun with friends.

Despite how long I’ve been playing World of Warcraft, I simply don’t go to the Darkmoon Faire often enough - I’m endeavoring to change that in this expansion.

There are plenty of players who simply don’t go to the Darkmoon Faire in WoW The War Within because they don’t know how to get there. There’s no direct way to fly there or to use a flight path. Each faction does have a portal and an optional way to get there. Even if you’re in the Dornogal hub city, there’s an easy way to the Darkmoon Faire.

Where are the Darkmoon Faire portals in WoW The War Within?

The Darkmoon Faire portals in WoW The War Within reside outside of Thunder Bluff (Horde) and Stormwind (Alliance). It’s significantly faster for Alliance players to get to the Darkmoon Faire these days, due to Orgrimmar lacking a portal to Thunder Bluff. Having to wait on the Zeppelin is entirely too slow.

Alliance players simply need to take the Dornogal portal to Stormwind, and fly down to Goldshire (41, 69). You’ll find it right next to the town itself. Horde players, on the other hand, have to take the Dornogal portal to Orgrimmar, and either fly to Thunder Bluff, use a Skyriding mount to fly to the city in Mulgore, or use a Zeppelin.

Another option is to get a Mage to portal you to Thunder Bluff. Once there, leave the city and head to coordinates (36, 35), and you can enter the Darkmoon Faire portal in WoW The War Within.

If you want to get to the Darkmoon Faire in WoW The War Within and are on the Horde side, you do have a much better option. You can head to Orgrimmar, and speak to the Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage at coordinates (48.0 62.0). If you pay 25 copper, they’ll teleport you to the faire proper.

You can also find a Darkmoon Faire Mystic Mage in two locations in Stormwind (62.2 73.0) and (62.2 32.2). Either way, all you have to do is speak to them, agree to pay 25 copper, and they’ll teleport you. This is arguably the fastest route, and 25 copper is basically nothing, compared to what you get for defeating monsters in the world.

Once you’re there, you can buy tickets to play games, complete quests, and so much more. The Darkmoon Faire is only around for a week each month, so don’t miss out on it. This month, it runs from September 1 through September 7, 2024, so there are only a few days left. However, these methods of travel will continue to work in future months.
