The availability of Exotic Class Items is changing slowly but surely in Destiny 2. Ever since the implementation of this new armor piece, Bungie has been under a lot of fire from the community for making a ridiculous RNG behind each drop. Bungie recently confirmed that Xur, a weekly vendor in the game, will be getting a dedicated section in his shop just for an Exotic Class Item, alongside an Exotic Cipher.
This change will be implemented with the upcoming August 20 weekly reset and Update 8.5.0.2. It remains unknown whether players can purchase countless armor pieces in exchange for Strange Coins throughout the same weekend. Note that Xur arrives each weekend starting from Friday, and stays until the next weekly reset.
Exotic Class Items to be listed on Xur's store in Destiny 2
The implementation of Exotic Class Items on Xur's shop will be Bungie's first step in making them available outside the Pale Heart open world. Typically, the company has also assured everyone that it is currently working on updates to make Exotic Class Items accessible in the game.
Here's what Bungie stated regarding the implementation of Exotic Class Items on Xur's shop:
"With Destiny 2 Update 8.5.0.2, coming on August 20, Xûr’s inventory is getting a small update. The Wildcard offer that featured Ritual Engrams, Exotic Ciphers or Raid Banner will be moved to Xûr's Strange Offers category to make room each week for either an Exotic Class Items or an Exotic Cipher."
Regarding the cost and availability of each item, the company stated:
"Exotic Class Items on Xûr will cost 41 Strange Coins and will have random rolls . The only requirement to get them is to have unlocked the regular acquisition path through the Dual Destiny mission for each character. If not offered, the alternative is an Exotic Cipher, which will cost 79 Strange Coins and will be limited to one per account."
It should be noted that the first week after the implementation will grant a guaranteed listing of an Exotic Class Item for each class on Xur. From then on, the listing will be based on RNG, between an Exotic Class Item and an Exotic Cipher.
Lastly, the Class Items will be added to the Wildcard Offering section, available on the front page beside the other Exotic armor pieces. Previous Wildcard Offerings will be moved to the Strange Offering section.
