Tara Allmendinger shared pictures of her husband AJ Allmendinger and son Aero as they enjoyed their off-season vacation at the Sea Pines Hilton Head Island.
Tara regularly shares updates about her family on social media. In a recent carousel of pictures, they were spotted at The Sea Pines Resort, situated at Hilton Head Island, close to Savannah. The post was largely focused on their son, Aero. He could be seen playing around in the sand and sitting with his mother on what seemed to be the edge of a treehouse, and also next to a lake with his father.
"Soaking up the season with our Aero James," Tara wrote on Instagram.
Most NASCAR drivers spend a lot more time with their families during the off-season period after the end of the Championship. Allmendinger is doing the same before the 2025 season kicks off in February.
AJ Allmendinger married his long-time partner Tara Meador in 2019. Their family expanded after their son Aero was born back in September of 2023.
While the birth of their child was a major change in their life, a new challenge stood in front of the couple as Aero faced a rare congenital disability after he was born. He underwent surgery shortly after and had to wear a helmet for close to a year, which was recently removed.

As mentioned, Tara and AJ Allmendinger's son Aero was born with craniosynostosis. This is a condition that occurs when the bones in a baby's skull fuse prior to the complete development of their brain, and surgery is required following their birth.
So was the case with Aero as well, as he underwent surgery at just three months old. AJ and Tara faced a difficult situation at the time as it took a major toll on their kid. While the surgery was successful, Aero had to wear a special cranial helmet for the coming months for complete recovery.
He recently made a full recovery and his helmet was removed. Tara wrote an emotional message on social media following this.
"He did it! It’s official: Aero has graduated from his @docband helmet from Cranial Technologies. We are so grateful for all the care and support we’ve received. Last year, AJ and I were scared, sick, and losing sleep over the thought of our three-month-old undergoing surgery. Aero was born with Saggital Craniosynostosis and had to undergo an endoscopic strip craniectomy—basically, surgery to remove a fused suture on the top of his skull," Tara wrote.
"After surgery, he wore three helmets for several months. The helmets molded his head to shape and allowed for normal brain growth. I can report everything turned out fantastic. God’s timing and plan are truly perfect. 💜" she added.
