Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader recently joined the Hem & Schrader podcast on Dirty Mo Media. In the podcast, they discussed everything around NASCAR, including Wallace's brother, Mike Wallace's 2025 Daytona 500 attempt.
As they talked about the Daytona International Speedway race, Wallace asked Schrader to speak about the 65-year-old's ambitious aim in February this year. Speaking about this, Schrader, the $25 million worth (as per Celebrity Net Worth) former NASCAR driver, said:
"More power to him, you know. If he wants to go run that race, I mean I'd love to go run that race, you know. And you can't tell me that you wouldn't if you know if the opportunity presented itself.
"He's going to have an uphill battle just because it's a smaller team. I don't know, it's a hell of a task. But I think Mike will do his part, that's for sure," he added.
Mike Wallace is all set to make a shocking return to NASCAR after MBM Motorsports announced that the former will attempt the Daytona 500 this year. Wallace will drive MBM Motorsports' #66 Cup Series car at Daytona International Speedway.
This will be his return to NASCAR for the first time since his 2020 runs with JD Motorsports in the Xfinity Series. If Mike Wallace manages to run in the Daytona 500 at 65 years old, he will be the second oldest driver after Mark Thompson to run in the iconic racetrack.
Mike Wallace shares his thoughts after Daytona 500 announcement
Mike Wallace recently shared his thoughts after MBM Motorsports announced his Daytona 500 entry in February this year. The former Cup Series driver seemed excited at the opportunity.
“I am very excited to be teamed up with Carl Long and the complete MBM Motorsports team, along with Doug Yates’ support, for a return trip to the Daytona 500 after being away for a few years,” Wallace said.
“I just can’t wait to work with Carl again in the first laps of practice at the World Center of Speed, Daytona International Speedway. I say it that way out of the enormous honor and respect I have for Daytona, along with all the pride and prestige it brings to myself and my team as a winner here."
MBM Motorsports only fields one part-time ride, the #66 Cup car, and Wallace will be in charge of it. Wallace's last Cup Series race was the 2015 Daytona 500. His Cup Series career consisted of 197 races in over 20 years, where he claimed 14 Top 10s.
