Joe Gibbs Racing on Monday unveiled a new logo for their Cup Series outfit. The logo in question will be used in their apparel and competition assets for the 2025 season onwards. However, fans were far from happy with Denny Hamlin's team's change.

Joe Gibbs' team, JGR, unveiled the new logo in the off-season and ahead of the upcoming 2025 Cup Series season. This has come after 10 months of bringing in a new logo to pay tribute to Coy Gibbs — son of JGR owner, Joe Gibbs.

Sharing an update on this, Sports Business Journal's Adam Stern wrote on X,

".@JoeGibbsRacing is making the old-school JGRMX block logo its new preferred Cup logo, putting it on most at-track apparel, competition assets and other public-facing locations after bringing it back last year in the Xfinity Series."

While some welcomed the change, a majority of fans did not appreciate it. Here are some reactions taken from the micro-blogging site X:

Reacting to the change, a fan wrote, "That logo is wack. No character No creativity. Just plain and boring."
"Ehhhhhhh this change wasn't needed," another fan wrote.
Another fan wrote, "Only thing it reminds me of was when Chandler Smith punched Cole Custer."
"That's why 'less is more' isn't always right," another fan added.
A fan wrote, "This logo is trash."
Another fan had one word to sum it up, "Bad."

The old Joe Gibbs Racing logo, however, will still be used at times, and will be seen in both online and offline locations.

Joe Gibbs Racing honored Coy Gibbs with an alternate logo in 2024

In March 2024, Joe Gibbs Racing launched an alternate logo to pay tribute to the late Coy Gibbs, the son of Joe Gibbs. This wasn't just a logo, but there was something more to it. Eric Schaffer, Joe Gibbs Racing’s EVP/Chief Commercial Officer, unraveled what lay beneath the ideation of it.

Here's what he said about the lineage of the logo (via TobyChristie.com):

“I saw an old motocross logo, and I found out from David Evans who is one of our salespeople that [the logo] was Coy’s idea. It was a motocross team, and [Coy] was really passionate about it. It was a big deal.
“Certain teams have alternate logos. Baseball teams, basketball teams. Sometimes you’ll have two or three different logos. “And I thought it looked cool. I thought it looked different than our traditional logo, and something a little bit different. So I kind of asked around about it.”

Coy Randall Gibbs was born on December 9, 1972, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. An Xfinity and Truck Series driver, Gibbs had nearly 100 races under his belt. His son, Ty Gibbs, is a renowned NASCAR driver and is driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Cup Series currently.

Coy Gibbs breathed his last in his sleep on November 6, 2022, at the age of 49. He died the night his son Ty Gibbs won the 2022 Xfinity Series championship. Several NASCAR drivers paid tribute to him after the season-ending race, including Joey Logano, who dedicated the victory and championship to his name.
