Twenty-two races have taken place in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Kyle Larson claimed his fourth win of the season after winning the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 21.
In a race that was filled with drama, Larson survived two overtimes and held off the field in a dramatic double overtime finish to take the checkered flag for the first time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
With the win, Larson gained 49 points and maintained the top position in the points table. He has a 10-point lead over his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott with 749 points.
After a runner-up finish at Indianapolis, Tyler Reddick gained 49 points and moved to third position in the points table with 734 points. Reddick is in the mix for the regular season championship as he is just 15 points behind points leader Larson.
Denny Hamlin, who started on the front row, had DNF results after being involved in a multi-car wreck during the first overtime restart. He gained 23 points and is fourth in the points table with 706 points.
Ryan Blaney, who was in contention to win, ended up finishing third. The defending NASCAR Cup champion gained 49 points and is fifth in the points table with 676 points.
