Twenty races have taken place in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Alex Bowman claimed his first win of the season after winning the Grant Park 165 at the Chicago Street Course on Sunday, July 7.
In a rain-shortened race, Alex Bowman stayed on wet-weather tires during the final stage before capitalizing to cross the finish line in P1. With the win, Bowman gained 54 points and clinched his berth in the 2024 playoffs. He moved to 11th place in the points table with 553 points.
Despite a poor finish of P39, Kyle Larson maintained the top spot in the points table. He has an 11-point lead over his teammate Chase Elliott with 671 points.
Ty Gibbs, who started on the front row, failed to utilize his advantage and finished third. He gained 42 points and is ninth in the points table with 560 points.
Ryan Blaney, the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, finished P10. He gained 27 points and is seventh in the points table with 587 points.
Tyler Reddick, who finished runner-up, moved to third place in the points table with 648 points.
