Twenty-one races have taken place in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney claimed his second win of the season after winning The Great American Getaway 400 at the Pocono Raceway on Sunday, July 14.
In a race that included a series of restarts, Blaney held off Denny Hamlin and Alex Bowman in the closing laps to cross the finish line in P1. With the win, Bowman gained 40 points and moved to seventh place in the points table with 627 points.
After finishing P9 at Pocono, Chase Elliott gained 43 points and secured the top spot back in the points table. He has a three-point lead over his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson with 703 points.
Ty Gibbs, who started on the pole, failed to utilize his advantage and finished 27th. He gained just 10 points and is 11th in the points table with 570 points.
Denny Hamlin, the defending winner of the event and track’s all-time winningest driver, finished P2. He gained 54 points and is fourth in the points table with 683 points.
