NASCAR is shifting from the triangle-shaped track of Pocono Raceway to the rectangular-shaped oval track of Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend for the 2024 Brickyard 400.

The weekend will be full of thrilling racing action, as the 2.5-mile oval track of the NASCAR Cup Series will host Next Gen cars for the first time since 2022.

Fresh off the weekend in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, it will be interesting to see how drivers cope with the unknown challenges in Speedway, Indiana, at Brickyard 400.

Thirty-nine NASCAR Cup Series cars will start on Sunday, July 21, to compete over 160 laps and 400 miles of thrilling racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A lot of Cup action is coming this weekend, leading to Sunday’s Brickyard 400. The Cup practice session kicks off the weekend with practice on Friday (July 19), followed by Cup qualifying on Saturday (July 20), which will determine the starting lineup for the 22nd race of the season.

After finishing P9 at last week’s The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway, Chase Elliott stayed on top of the NASCAR Cup Series points table with 703 points.

Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson is second with 700 points, followed by Tyler Reddick with 688 points, Denny Hamlin with 683 points, and William Byron with 646 points to complete the top five.
