NASCAR Cup Series 2024: Preview and odds table for YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway

The YellaWood 500 marks the 31st race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season and the fifth playoff race. The green flag will drop at 2 pm ET on Sunday, October 6, at Talladega Superspeedway.

The 2.66-mile tri-oval superspeedway comprises 33 degrees of banking in the turns, 16.5 degrees of banking on the tri-oval, and 3 degrees on the backstretch; drivers have to work together in the draft to succeed. The Talladega Superspeedway hosts NASCAR’s three national series, the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series.

Forty drivers will contest over 188 laps in this week’s Cup Series race. This will be the 56th annual event hosted by Talladega Superspeedway in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Heading to the Talladega Superspeedway, Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski, and Joey Logano are the three favorites to win the YellaWood 500 this week, per the odds table, at +950, according to sportscasting.com. Blaney is the defending winner of the event.

Kyle Busch has the second-highest odds to win on Sunday at +1000. Busch holds two wins at Talladega. He finished 27th in the first race at Talladega this season.

Busch is followed by the Chase Elliott at +1200, Denny Hamlin at +1400, William Byron at +1400, and Bubba Wallace at +1600 in the top five odds.

Last week winner Ross Chastain has the eighth highest odds at +2200 to win Sunday’s (October 6) YellaWood 500.
