Thirty-one races have taken place in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. clinched his first win of the season after winning the dramatic YellaWood 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, October 6.
In a thrilling Talladega playoff race, Stenhouse Jr. prevailed over the challenge of Brad Keselowski and Williom Byron to win in a three-wide photo finish.
With the win, Stenhouse Jr., who is not in the playoffs, gained 49 points and moved to 24th in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff points table with 522 points.
After a podium finish at Talladega, William Byron gained 48 points and maintained the top position in the NASCAR Cup Series points table with 3122 points. He has a 17-point lead over Christopher Bell.
Austin Cindric, who started from the front row, failed to use the advantage and finished 32nd. He gained 17 points and is 11th in the playoff points table, 29 points below the cutline for Round of 8.
The defending NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney finished 39th in the YellaWood 500. He gained just five points and is sixth in the playoffs points table with 3073 points.
Kyle Larson finished fourth and gained 42 points. He moved to third place with 3100 points.
