After a thrilling Grant Park 165 at Chicago Street Course, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to Long Pond, Pennsylvania, for another thriller, The Great American Getaway 400.
The 21st race of the season is expected to be exciting as the Next Gen car will run for the 51st time at the Pocono Raceway. All drivers who will take the grid will be racing to win Sunday’s 160-lap race at the 2.5-mile-long triangle-shaped oval track.
Live action of the Pocono Cup race can be enjoyed live on NBC Sports, USA Network, Peacock, and MRN. It will be broadcast on Sunday, July 14, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
What is The Great American Getaway 400 prize money for 2024?
All 37 drivers participating across NASCAR’s three national series will compete for monetary incentives this weekend in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
In 2024, the Cup Series race at the Pocono Raceway boasts a prize pool of $7,776,907. Meanwhile, the Xfinity and Truck Series races will reward the winner with $1,439,558 and $757,128, respectively.
FOX Sports’ renowned journalist Bob Pockrass announced the total prize pool that will be up for grabs this weekend at Pocono across the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series:
“Purses for Pocono weekend includes all payouts for all positions, year-end points fund, contingency awards and for Cup, payouts to charter teams based on participation and historical performance (past 3 yrs & championships): Cup: $7,776,907 Xfinity: $1,439,558 Truck: $757,128”
The Great American Getaway 400 Prize Money Breakdown: How much will the winner make at the Pocono Raceway?
According to NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass, the winner of the 2024 The Great American Getaway 400, is likely to receive between eight and 10 percent of the total purse. The remaining purse will be divided among the full-time NASCAR Cup Series' 36 charter teams according to their finishing position, charter status, etc.
As per this assumption, the winner of Sunday's The Great American Getaway 400 will likely get eight to 10 percent of the overall prize money of $7,776,907, which means the winner will receive a check of around $500,000–700,000.
NASCAR Cup Series action begins with practice on Saturday (July 13) at 12 pm ET, followed by qualifying at 12:45 pm ET, while the main event is on Sunday. Practice and qualifying for the 21st race can be watched live on NBC Sports and USA Network.
