After a Kansas Cup race, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series heads to Lincoln, Alabama, for the YellaWood 500.
The fifth playoff race of the 2024 season is expected to be exciting as the Next Gen car will run for the sixth time at Talladega Superspeedway. All drivers taking the field will be racing to win Sunday’s (October 6) 188-lap race at the 2.66-mile-long tri-oval superspeedway.
Along with the win, there will be monetary rewards for the winners across NASCAR’s three national series. In 2024, the Cup Series race at the Talladega fall race boasts a prize pool of $9,222,964. Meanwhile, the Xfinity and Truck Series races will reward the winner with $1,337,574 and $880,113, respectively.
Live action of the YellaWood 500 can be enjoyed live on NBC Sports, Peacock, and MRN. It will be broadcast on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

All 40 drivers participating in NASCAR’s top-tier series will compete for monetary incentives this weekend in Lincoln, Alabama.
Renowned FOX Sports journalist Bob Pockrass tweeted the total prize pool that will be up for grabs this weekend across the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series.
“Purses for Talladega, including all payouts, all positions plus all charter payouts, contingency awards, etc.: Cup: $9,222,964 Xfinity: $1,337,574 Truck: $880,113,” his tweet read.
YellaWood 500 Prize Money Breakdown: How much will the winner expected to make at Talladega Superspeedway?
According to NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass, the 2024 YellaWood 500 winner will likely receive between eight and 10 percent of the total purse. The remaining purse will be divided among the full-time NASCAR Cup Series' 36 charter teams according to their finishing positions, charter status, etc.
As per the assumption, the winner of Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega will likely get eight to 10 percent of the overall prize money of $9,222,964, which means a check of around $700,000–900,000.
NASCAR Cup Series action begins with qualifying on Saturday, October 5, at 1:30 pm ET, while the main event is on Sunday. Qualifying for this year’s fifth playoff race can be watched live on USA Network and NBC Sports.
