NASCAR fans at Talladega were able to witness some unbelievable scenes at the start of the Yellawood 500 on Sunday where drivers raced in a 4-way wide formation. With five races to go after Talladega, NASCAR is almost at the business end of its playoffs run, and drivers did not want to leave an inch as they searched for glory.

The Talladega Superspeedway hosted the second Round of 12 race on Sunday where Michael McDowell of Front Row Motorsport started on pole, followed by Team Penske's Austin Cindric, and FRM's Todd Gilliland.

However, the Hendrick Motorsports duo of Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson, Trackhouse Racing's Ross Chastain, and Kaulig Racing's Daniel Hemric grabbed all the attention. During stage 1 of 3, the four aforementioned drivers came side by side as they led the pack of 40 drivers at the Superspeedway.

Bowman was on the extreme left, with Larson on his right. Chastain was right next to the #5 Chevrolet, and at the extreme right was Hemric. While the four cars were leading the race, the other 36 cars followed suit.

Here is a video of the unbelievable incident posted by NASCAR on X:

At the time of publishing this article, Shane Van Gisbergen had claimed the lead of the race after Chris Buescher took the Stage 1 win. The drivers who led the four-way wide - Bowman, Larson, Chastain, and Hemric - finished stage one in 11th, 5th, 7th, and 32nd place respectively.

Four drivers need to perform exceptionally well to take themselves out of the playoff cut-line and move to the round of 8 before NASCAR moves to Charlotte for the final race of Round of 12.

Austin Cindric needs the most points as he is in 12th place, -29 points below the cut-line. Chase Briscoe with -25 points is ahead of Cindric, but also below the cut-line. Daniel Suarez is in 10th place with -14, and he is behind regular-season champion Tyler Reddick who has -4 points.
