The Brickyard 400 concluded on Sunday, July 21. The 22nd race of the season started at 2:30 pm ET and lasted for three hours, 29 minutes, and nine seconds at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval, with 39 entries.
The 2024 Brickyard 400 saw 18 lead changes among 13 drivers and 10 caution flags.
Who won the NASCAR race today?
Kyle Larson, driving the #5 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, secured his fourth win of the 2024 season at IMS Oval under caution.
In a drama-filled race, Larson started on the front row along with Ryan Blaney at the start of the opening restart of overtime after race leader Brad Keselowski ran out of fuel. Larson quickly grabbed the lead from Blaney before a multi-car wreck in Turn 1 brought the caution out again.
However, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion was able to beat Blaney for the lead in the second overtime. But on the final lap, Ryan Preece hit the wall, forcing NACAR to throw a caution for Preece’s stalled car, and that ensured the win for Larson.
The win marked his third NASCAR crown jewel victory and the 27th of his Cup Series career.
Meanwhile, Tyler Reddick finished runner-up, followed by the defending Cup champion Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell, and Bubba Wallace in the top five. Todd Gilliland, Austin Cindric, Daniel Suárez, Noah Gragson, and Chase Elliott completed the top 10 in the Brickyard 400.
