The 2013 Hall of Fame inductee, Rusty Wallace made his NASCAR debut driving for Penske in 1980. Though he only raced twice during the season, he was able to achieve a top five finish in his very first race. He finally became a full-time driver in 1984 for Asquith Motorsport, finishing 14th in the driver’s standings.

After another season with the team, he moved to Blue Max Racing where he became a top contender for the championship as soon as he started competing for the team. His first and only NASCAR Cup Series Championship came in 1989, just three years after moving to the team.

Wallace made a switch to the team he started his career with, Team Penske, soon after and retired in their racing suit as well. During his tenure with the team, he came close to winning the championship twice and finished as the runner-up and second runner-up in the standings.

2005 was the last season for the legend in the series and he did not disappoint. His stellar performance on the track had been consistent for 22 years and he was able to finish on a high, with eighth in the standings.
