Morgan Rielly, born on March 9, 1994, is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman and serves as the alternate captain for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Maple Leafs in the first round (fifth overall pick) during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Rielly made his professional debut with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League during the end of the 2012-13 season. His NHL debut occurred the following season on October 5, 2013, against the Ottawa Senators. The 2016-17 season saw Rielly's prominence to top, when he was named as the alternate captain of the Maple Leafs and was nominated for the Bill Masterton Trophy.
