Angelo Sagal: A Brief Biography
Ángelo Nicolás Sagal Tapia, popularly known as Angelo Sagal is a Chilean professional football player who was born on 18 April 1993 in Talca, Chile.
Sagal primarily plays as a central-forward, but sometimes he can be useful in numerous other positions too. He has experience of playing in the positions of left midfield, right-wing, left-wing, right midfield and secondary striker. Currently, he is playing for Liga MX club Pachuca and Chile national team.
Background
Sagal had began his career as a left-back but later in 2006, while giving a trial for Colo-Colo, he had to become an attacking midfielder.
In 2008, Sagal started his official football career by joining home city based local football club, Rangers de Talca. He played as well as trained staying with the youth ranks of the club before getting promoted to the senior team.
Debut
On 13 June 2011, Sagal made his official debut for Rangers coming as a replacement in the 89th minute of the game. It was a game of Primera B, in which Rangers defeated Unión Temuco by 1-0. In his second game, which had come on 13 November 2011 against Magallanes CF, he got more time on the field than his previous game. However, Rangers had lost this match by 1-3.
Sagal got his first international call-up in January 2015 under the coach Jorge Sampaoli. He made his international debut later on 29 January 2015 when Chile took up United States for a friendly. Match had been won by Chile by 3-2.
Rise to glory
Sagal rose to glory after joining Campeonato Nacional League's club Huachipato FC in 2013. He scored his first goal for Huachipato on 18 January 2015 in a 2-2 draw against Colo-Colo and helped his team to level the score. He had also provided a significant assist in this particular game.
On 11 March 2015, scoring 2 goals and providing an assist, he was involved in all three goals his team scored against San Luis and helped the club to win. Later he finished the season with 3 goals in 6 matches.
Although he didn't play regularly, whenever he was on the pitch, he performed splendidly. On 31 July 2016, he roared with 2 back to back goals in a 3-1 Primera division victory against Audax Italiano, similarly on 24 September 2016, he once again scored 2 goals to register a 4-1 victory against Cobresal. Before switching to his current club Pachuca, he played 50 matches for Huachipato FC scoring 14 times.
On 15 January 2017, Sagal netted his first and decisive international goal for Chile in the final of 2017 China Cup against Iceland and won the title for his team. With the help of his goal, he had also secured a place in the squad for Russia 2017.
Club career
After his successful career with Huachipato FC, Sagal moved to Liga MX club Pachuca and has played 38 games till date scoring 9 goals and providing 5 assists.
Overall, he has featured in 115 fixtures of various leagues including Liga MX and Primera division and has got 22 goals in his goal tally. He also has 11 assists in his name.
