Daniel Bocanegra: A Brief Biography
Daniel Eduardo Bocanegra Ortíz was born on April 23, 1987, in Purificación, Tolima in Colombia. He is the defender of the Colombia national football team and also plays right-back and his current team is Atlético Nacional of the First Category A of Colombia.
Background
As a child Bocanegra always fancied football and he began his football journey from his hometown where he played as a forward in a club called Villa de Las Palmas under the guidance of local coach José Benito Gabalan.
Debut
Bocanegra's professional debut came in the year 2006, where he played for Academia Fútbol Club of the First Category B. In 2013, he was taken by Atlético Nacional and he gave his debut against Alianza Petrolera.
He made his international senior team debut in the year 2014 for Colombia National Football Team in friendly matches against the United States Soccer Team and the Slovenia Soccer Team.
Rise to glory
Bocanegra adroit performance with the Academia Fútbol Club was noticed by the Independiente Santa Fe and ultimately earned him a spot in the Bogota club. At Atlético Huila, he was to be a very important player for the team.
In 2012 for Independiente Medellín, he was declared to be the of the best players in the country as with his defense his team made it to the finals and were declared to be the runners-up of the Tournament Finalization 2012.
In 2014 Bocanegra was one of the notable players of Atlético Nacional and also scored important goals in national and international tournaments.
In 2016, he was champion of the Copa Libertadores de América and achieved his first international title.
Club Career
From 2006 - 2009 Bocanegra played for Academia Fútbol Club. From 2010 - 2012 he played for Atlético Huila and from 2012 - 2013 he served Independiente Medellín. Presently he plays for National Athletic.
Low Point
In the year 2015, Bocanegra was confirmed with a partial rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament in a training session and that led him to miss the Copa América 2015, where he has to represent his nation.
Records
Bocanegra was an important player in the purslane team and also being part of the starting lineup, the team won, Copa Colombia 2013, Tournament Finalization 2013 and Tournament Apertura 2014.
