Daniel Suarez is a professional Mexican-American stock car racing driver, who has made a name for himself as the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, Suarez drives the No.99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing. He also races part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No.14 Chevrolet Camaro for SS-Green Light racing with Kaulig Racing and the No.36 Camaro for DGM Racing.
Suarez started his racing journey in the NASCAR Toyota Series in Mexico, racing for Telcel Racing. He later transitioned to NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, with Rev Racing as part of the Drive for Diversity program. In 2016, he made a name for himself by winning the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with Joe Gibbs Racing and made history as the first foreign-born driver to win a major NASCAR National Series Championship.
Daniel joined Trackhouse Racing in 2022. He made his historic first Cup series victory at Sonoma Raceway in 2022. Daniel Suarez was born and raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. He started racing at the age of ten, and in 2002 he began karting. By 2007, Suarez had won the class championship in karting and started his competitive career. In 2008, he entered the NASCAR Mexico series under the mini-stocks category, where he was the youngest driver to win a race in the series history. This win helped him to find his way into the NASCAR Mexico Series in 2010, as he drove for Telcel Racing and earned the title of Rookie of the Year.
Suarez made progress in his career as he alternated between the NASCAR Mexico Series and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. In 2011 in the Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway, he finished as the highest-placing Mexican driver. In 2012, he finished third in the championship standings with leading the points in the Mexico series and also securing two victories. As he participated in the K&N Pro Series East, he finished sixteenth overall with multiple top-ten finishes. In 2013, Suarez secured his first K&N Pro Series East victory and finished third in the championship standings. His impressive performances in both the NASCAR Toyota Series and K&N Pro Series East earned him a spot in NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program. In 2014, Suarez made his Nationwide Series debut for Joe Gibbs Racing, at the Richmond International Raceway, making his official entry into the professional career in NASCAR.
