Daniel Torres: A Brief Biography
Daniel Alejandro Torres is a Colombian professional footballer who was born on November 15, 1989 in Caqueza, Colombia. He plays as a Defensive Midfielder for the La Liga club Alaves and Colombia National Football Team.
Background
In 2005, Torres joined Independiente Santa Fe’s youth setup at the age of 15 years. He made his debut for their senior team on June 8, 2008 against America de Cali in a 0-3 loss.
Debut
On November 6, 2015 Torres was called up by the then Colombia national team manager Jose Peterman for playing the 2018 World Cup qualifiers matches against Chile and Argentina. He made his debut against Chile which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Rise to glory
Torres was also included in the 23-man squad for the Copa America Centenario 2016 and featured regularly in the team which resulted in his team finishing third.
Low points
In 2011, he was transferred to Atletico Nacional but he didn't appear in much matches due to some disciplinary problems (something related to alcohol) which resulted his exile from the club at the end of the season.
Club career
Daniel Torres began his club career on June 8, 2008 with Santa Fe in a match against America de Cali which resulted in a 0-3 loss for them. In 2011, he was loaned to Atletico Nacional but hardly played played for them.
On July 5, 2015 Torres was transferred to Independiente Medellin along with his fellow teammate Luis Carlos Arias. He played regularly with them, scoring two goals in the 2015 Categoria Primera A Season.
Next year on July 16, Torres signed a four year contract with Deportivo Alaves which was newly promoted to La Liga. He made his debut on August 21 in a 1&1 away draw against Atletico Madrid.

He was part of the Santa Fe side when they won the Categoria Primera A in 2012 and 2014; Copa Colombia in 2009 and Superliga Colombiana in 2013 and 2015.
