Andrew Martin Dober is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the lightweight category of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has been a professional fighter since 2009 and has previously fought for Bellator MMA and Titan Fighting Championship.

Drew Dober Early Life

Andrew Dober was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Dober began practicing Muay Thai at the age of 14 and became a two-time Amateur National Champion. He also wrestled during his junior and senior years at Millard North High School. Dober is a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which he earned under Ed Shobe of Mid-America Martial Arts before moving to Colorado to train. He had an amateur record of 9-0 before turning professional in 2009. He fought and won against Nick Nolte at Bellator 16 on April 29, 2010, via arm-triangle choke submission in the first round.

Over the next three years, Dober competed in several promotions, including Victory Fighting Championship and Titan Fighting Championship, and compiled a record of 12-2. He later appeared on The Ultimate Fighter.

Islam Makhachev defeated Drew Dober via submission (rear-naked choke) in the third round of their lightweight bout at UFC 259 on March 6, 2021.

The fight started with Makhachev dominating the first round with his grappling and ground control, while Dober managed to escape multiple submission attempts. In the second round, Makhachev continued to control the fight on the ground but also landed some significant strikes on the feet.

In the third round, Makhachev secured a takedown early on and quickly took Dober's back. From there, he sunk in the rear-naked choke and Dober was forced to tap out, giving Makhachev the victory.
